Feeling the Lady
« on: October 28, 2012, 02:16:16 am »
It’s amazing how music can move you.

I think I might have just had a very profound and valuable epiphany tonight.  It’s moved me in such a deep way, I feel like I have to attempt to share it with others.  For some, it may be a very simple thing.  For me however, I think it’s like the miracle of watching your child start breathing air and moving.

I just got done listening to “I Hear You Calling” by Chalice and Blade for the second time.  This time, I had my headphones on, eyes closed, totally immersed in the sound.  My eyes watered up.

For a very long time now, I have been franticly reading and trying to find my way to the Lady.  Books, groups, online articles.  I’ve been so frustrated because nothing has been connecting me.  I’ve been a part of rituals and celebrations as well.  It simply wasn’t there.

I think I get it now.  You don’t simply go to the Lady by study, reading, spellwork, and incantations.  I’ve been trying that for years.  You don’t go to her at all.  You call to her, you ask her to come to you.  Ask her to be a part of you.  Not from poems and writings from other people, and not from prose and rhyme you struggle for hours to make.  It’s from the very soul of your heart.  Not just your thoughts and desires, but something that is so far beyond “you” that you can’t describe it.  At least I can’t.  I don’t even think I would want to pick that part of me apart to the point of being able to describe it.  I simply want to feel that part, and bask in the experience.

After several years of trying to connect and feel the Lady, I finally stopped trying.  I asked.  She heard me, and for an amount of time I can’t measure, she filled me with the experience.  She is indeed there.  I felt the Lady in a way that felt more real than touching your own skin.

And I love her for that.

If you're looking for "the Lady", you're Wiccish enough that this is relevant.

"If that which you seek, you do not find within you, you will never find it without you.  For behold, I have been with you from the beginning, and I am that which is found at the end of desire."

She quoted the part of The Charge of the Goddess that is most relevant here.  You don't go out looking for the Lady, but you don't sit and wait for the phone to ring either.  You find Her within first.

Music may well be your path within.

I'm sorry; I should have been clearer that I wasn't saying your personal experience was "almost"; I meant specifically that your insights on how to find her were close but not quite on.
