* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Journeying difficulty
« on: July 11, 2017, 11:19:05 pm »
Hello! I just am confused given my attempts at journeying. I would like to meet my spirit guides, but I have been having a lot of difficulty. I do receive messages from them in dreams (suddenly I become aware I am dreaming and the person speaking becomes very "real" and tells me a message I remember when I wake up). I have tried various forms of meditation, and at most I just see glimpses of a person (I never see their face, only sense their near). Then I decided to try journeying using shamanic drumming. I have a CD from a book I bought for shamanism. The drumming does seem to help me get into a trance state a lot better than other methods I've tried. The problem is I can't get past seeing the back of my eyelids. :) There has been a couple of times that I felt myself being sucked through a tunnel. However, then I have this heavy feeling. It feels like I am deep underwater, I can't see, I can't hear... everything is muffled and dark and I can't speak.  The only images I have seen are two sort of faces (they aren't very clear). One is the face of a woman. The other looks kind of like a man with a skull painted on his face (similar to people in the south that paint their face for the day of the dead). I have also since been given a small Buddha statue that has chakra gemstones placed along it's body. That night after receiving that gift, I had a dream of a woman. She was teaching a workshop about meditation. And before I left, she grabbed my shoulders to give me a hug and told me to come to her when I have found something that can ground me. It was one of those vivid dreams where I actually felt the hug. And she had small gems along her body just like the Buddha statue.

So, my question is, does any of this mean anything to anyone? Since I am very new to journeying, I don't know if my experiences actually mean something, or if is just something odd that happened in my first attempts. I want to keep attempting, but it getting very frustrating just seeing blackness and feeling like I am unable to breathe. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)

Thanks.

I think you are actually doing very well! You already achieved lucid dreaming which many people never do (including me - I think I've managed it once and promptly woke up)

I know that tunnel you speak of. The out of focus thing is actually normal at the beginning and although I haven't experienced the heaviness it doesn't surprise me. You're in a strange environment, experiencing new sensations and using your senses in a new way. It's a bit like being newborn. You have to learn to interact. As you do it more your senses will sharpen and the blurriness goes away.

I well remember one of my early trips - I found a trunk of manuscripts covered in writing. Could I read them? Of course not. It was out of focus! My own teacher just laughed at my frustration and told me to keep practising.  Sadly I have not yet found my way back to that trunk.

Does any of this mean anything to anyone? Yes...to you. You just need more practice to sort out what it means to you.

Everyone's experiences are unique to them. There's no set in stone formula with set in stone things that you're going to see at each point. Some jump straight in and start seeing and understanding, others...take a little time.

The fact that you're hitting the tunnel suggests that you've got the right idea, but the heaviness and inability to speak, the feeling that you're underwater seems to me like you're you're straddling both worlds. That you're in the vision, but are at the same time trying to keep in the waking world. Like you're not quite ready to let go.

You get similar sensations when you're having normal dreams. It's the battle between your mind wanting to do a thing, but the body is in sleep mode and won't let you. Ever have a nightmare where you want to run away but can't because your legs won't move or move very slowly? That's your brain fighting the sleep paralysis mechanism that keeps us from thrashing about in our sleep. The minds wants to run, the body is ignoring the brain.

As for suggestions? Seems like you have already been given a few. You were granted a vision of someone teaching a meditation class and have been given an invite to seek this woman out once you have sorted out what you need to ground yourself with.

It sounds like someone has just said that you're on a good path and that you should pursue it further. I would suggest that you try and find someone who can help you with meditation and grounding and centering. Learn from them and when you get to the point where you feel you have the hang of it...start looking for that woman again in your journeys and let her teach you what she obviously wants you to learn.

I'd also suggest learning more about lucid dreaming. If you can get your mind to do what it wants to do with your dream self without trying to engage the physical self...that will help too with the journeys.

I never thought of it that way! Here I thought I must be doing something wrong... But that does actually make more sense when i think of it in that way.

Also something I never thought of... the feeling of pressure and darkness because I can't break my "shell"... A very good point and thanks so much for the comments! I will continue working with the drumming and journeying and hopefully I can break through. I believe there is a drumming circle going on in my city at the end of the month as well. I have been wondering if it would be something I should try attending. As the host is a shaman practitioner, so perhaps I should try to attend and see if that helps me on my path.

Thanks so much for the comments!
