how to send healing energy

Easiest is a simple candle spell - get a candle, hold it while concentrating on the purpose, put it in a 'sacred place' (altar or such), light it while still concentrating on the purpose, meditate on it for a bit, then either put it out or let it burn completely down to send the energy out

With the thought of it going out as you snuff or leave it to burn - imagine the smoke of the snuffing carrying it off, or the flicker of the flame as it burns sending it where it needs to go.

Are there advantages to letting it burn longer vs. snuffing it out?  Is more meditation more energy sent?  Or is it just energy is energy, and just lighting the flame is enough?

Also how might one incorporate water into sending healing energies?

One the first part, it depends on your personal viewpoint, and that can change - I've done healing candles both ways depending on the situation - though of late it's not a candle, but my Brighid's lamp - oil burner and can go 10-12 hours on a fill.

Never done that, but an idea is to bless some water in a bowl, wash your own hands with it imagining that it's the person who you want to send the energy to, then at some point reverently give the water to the earth, imagining that the Earth takes away what ever is affecting them

Point of Fact: While I'm on a primarily Gaelic path now, I use to do a lot with Elemental-Ceremonial magic, so I'm fairly well versed in it.

(Almost) Anytime I send out energy its a Candle spell. They are quick and efficient.

I let mine burn for a bit and then when I blow them out I imagine the smoke  as carrying the energy out into the world to them.

So then is blowing a ritual candle out not as taboo as some books lead me to believe?  Because that makes sense, expending my own energy to send the smoke forth.  But I can still see why the governers of the Fire element might be peeved.

Personally - blowing out, snuffing or letting it burn end up the same way - it goes out

The intention is the main thing - if you blow it out, do what Aubry says - imagine your breath sending the energy on it's way.

One thing in all this - no one way is the "true" way - do what works best for you and don't worry about the "rules-lawyers"

For every possible way there is to put out a candle, I've heard someone flip out about, 'Oh, no, never ever do that! It's disrespectful to the element Fire!'

One way I've used water for healing is to charge a bottle (or glass, but if you are doing it for someone else, sometimes a bottle is easier) with healing energy, and give it to them to drink.  The healing energy is held in the water until it is consume.  This of course is easiest to use for people near you.
