Gods, TGSSRP is genius!

It could be pronounced as "TigsSyrup" :D: Comes in all flavors!

I used "remix" in my sidebar. Whenever discussion of hard/soft polytheism comes up, I'm always tempted to say I'm scrambled.

I should work up a recipe for Scrambled Pagan Eggs.  Lots of spices, lots of flavors, one delicious meal.

Just make sure to cook it all the way through. Half-baked ideas lead to indigestion.

And a lot of gastro-disagreement.

Just remember that some spice combinations take great care and skill to put in the same thing, and that some people think cilantro tastes like soap! ;)

So now I can tell people that my dictate for cilantro is because I'm not Wiccan?

Heeeee.

The cilantro thing is actually genetic, by the way.  Some people have the gene that makes it taste like soap, and some people don't.  When I told my brother about this he literally threw himself at my feet and declared, "I'm not the only one?!?  I'm not insane?!?!"

Maybe I'll start telling people that mixing chocolate and mint is against my religion. I cannot comprehend why that combination is so popular.

I suppose you could adapt the recipe for Huevos Rancheros to make Pagan Scrambled Eggs, or would that be cultural appropriation?

...omg I did not know this was a thing, either. I have always wondered why I thought it tasted like soap. I thought I was just weird. D:

And, IDK, I think it's actually impossible to do recon meaningfully and well when you work with obscure gods anyway. There's not enough to reconstruct. My Sobek practices have to be eclectic and modern, because there's no other way to make it workable. Which is why I ditched the recon label a long time ago, because it's just not useful for me anymore.

While not necessarily a reconstructionist myself, I find I have a lot of irritation at people equating Cernunnos with the Horned God, because it spreads misinformation about Cernunnos Himself and effectively obliterates what little lore we have of Him; I also view it as rude. Examples like this are probably why recons get p-o'd at eclectics because this is their experience.

Okay, but if Cernunnos isn't the Horned God, then who's this?

The point could certainly be made about people who equate Cernunnos with Pan, Bahpomet, or even Satan, but Gardnerian Wicca specifically uses the name to refer to the Male half of the Godhead.

Do you have a Gardnerian initiation, then?  And does your initiator know that you're handing out oathbound material on a message board?

I like (Religion) Reloaded.

We could also call it The Great Sliding Scale of Religious Practice and have TGSSRP as an acronym. Of course that's kinda long...

Wait! I've just thought of a few more.

How about:
Recreationist
Resurectionist
Reanimator?

Actually, I think that these could be somewhat easy to misunderstand.

I don't have the spoons for this, but okay!

The figure on the Gundestrup Cauldron is Cernunnos. Not the Horned God.

You do realize that The Horned God has different associations, is way younger than Cernunnos, and, unlike our staggy friend, is not Gaulish, right?

Cernunnos technically means Horned (or antlered; I'm tired) and so Gardner has a right to refer to the Horned One as such. That does not necessarily mean they're the same.

The comparison of Cernunnos to Pan or Baphomet or Satan has never really seemed applicable to me--The Stag has antlers. The others have horns. (Also, it seems a bit like your comment marginalizes Satanists, but if I read that wrong then I apologize).

And yeah, what Darkhawk said.

I especially like Reanimator! You think I could steal that and use it around the head of my Campus Ministry? :D:
