All that being said, robins in February may simply be a harbinger of the God of Global Climate Change, whom we should probably all be paying much more attention to. I shall call him Steve, and placate him with offerings of bicycling to work. All tremble before Steve!

My UPG is that the God of Global Climate Change is Welsh and named Ythfck. He is ritually invoked as in "Ythfck, is it snowing in May?" and "Ythfck, is it 90 degrees in March?" His handmaidens are the goddesses Snoday, Polarvortex, and Al Gore.

As a Welsh person, this made me roar with laughter. I love it - thanks for that! :)

The ancient Mesopotamian goddess Ishtar/Inanna was depicted as a bird-woman. She is a goddess of war, fertility, love, and sex.  She reminds me also of The Morrigan from Irish mythology.

Just had to say: Love your avatar, Airelinn! ;)
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

I actually have no idea if that's even pronounceable in Welsh, but I figured any word that has a Y and no vowels had to be at least as Welsh as the Potato Goddess is Irish. ;)

Lol.  Every time I see a Robin (or rather, a pic of one since they pretty much don't exist where I live), I'm going to think, "Steve".  Hahaha. XD

Heretics. It is obvious that climate change is the work of the sun dieties, in order to properly conquer and subdue the planetary gods. As their prophet, I am proselytizing for them, and will accept donations on their behalf to my new fund "Sunny Conceptions for the Future", or Sunny Con. (The rumor that all the money is being spent on expensive cars is to be discounted. That's just crazy talk.)

What, the 'no religion bashing' rule? You're pretty safe in this case; it's quite clear in context that this is a case of 'Cauldronites on a satirical romp'.

(And I'll just stand over here with the heretics, because 'Ythfck' is highly amusing, and because I know just enough about how Welsh pronunciation works to see why 'Yddfwc' is at least twice as funny. )

Right.  Yddfwc is getting some shrine space, near Kalahira, Mephala, and Alduin.

Yours looks like it might be a crow, except I'm not seeing a beak projecting outwards; otherwise, its proportions could make it an accipiter (the "true" hawks) in silhouette?

Whereas the proportions of mine suggest either a buteo (the "buzzard" hawks) or an eagle.

You might not see a beak because I edited it in photoshop to remove the background a few years ago when I was still new at photoshop...so it's very possible I set the tolerance a little high on the magic eraser there lol. But yeah, it's a crow...at least that's a pic that came up on google when I searched "crow" hehe.  For a lot of years now, Crows and the Morrigan have kind of been my go-to guides. : )

Yours also reminds me of the red-tailed hawk we've got around here. They look a lot like the ravens in the sky so it can be hard to tell until they get close or screech. The hawk calls give me the chills. I'd sooo hate to be a small animal running around when they screech like that hehe.

Love the idea of a field guide. We'll make an app so when the subject comes up someone will be able to say, "Wait, I got this: there's an app for that!" XD
