* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

After Death Issues
« on: October 11, 2011, 03:38:50 pm »
So I've been studying various forms of neo-Wicca and other Pagan practices, and I feel like some pieces are coming together for me..though I need some long contemplation and way more study to be sure,of course.

One thing that keeps nagging at me is what comes after death. Reincarnation,Summerland, spirit worlds- I find myself just not really caring. I don't know what I believe of the after life, and I'm pretty much cool with any and all ideas of it.The only thing I really feel is that there is something beyond the grave. Every single book I've read always has a section emphasizing the beliefs on this subject, though. Like knowing what comes after death is a requirement for all Pagan beliefs. I feel as if I'm being pressured sometimes to make up my mind, when I actually don't care about making up my mind.

There are a lot of people who parse religion as "What you do to make sure you're okay after you're dead."  A lot.  (I even know a couple of atheists who are all "I really wish I could do religion because I'm so scared of death.")

There are also a lot of people who are really scarred by the whole heaven-and-hell concept, and thus need to come up with something to replace it so they can get over their fear of damnation.

If you're not in either of these categories, recognise that some people are and just roll on to something that has relevance.

For many people, beliefs about the afterlife are the most important beliefs in the religion, so much religions go into some detail on the subject. If you don't need it, my suggestion is simply don't worry about it.

Our lives in this world are important. I'd say that  you need not worry about what comes next unless it matters to *you*.

I agree with the others, if it is something you are not concerned with, then don't worry about it.
One of the biggest problems I had after I left Catholicism was getting away from the thoughts that had been drilled into me as a child - that I was going to hell.  Reading about these other ideas of what happens after death helped me get through that initial transitory period until I was more confident in my beliefs.  So I do see how it can be beneficial for others as well.  Just my 2 cents!  :)
