A Ritual
« on: August 29, 2011, 09:41:45 pm »
I dreamed of doing this ritual. I tried to see if this ritual or something similiar is practiced by any religion by doing a keyword search but could not find anything. I am interested in knowing if anything like this is done by practitioners of any religion/belief system.

I wrote a single word on a flat, broad peice of bark. The word represented something that I desired. I place the bark under a tree before dawn where it would be hit by the light of the rising sun. Around the bark I placed wild flowers and fruit. There was a feeling that I was being watched, that there was a focus on me, on what I was doing, on the objects that I had placed under the tree. I felt there was a presense in the air, in the sky, in the light, in the tree...all around. I do not know what this presense represented.

I felt very much like this was a message. That I was being told that I should do this.

I am thinking of trying it. I just have no idea where this is coming from. I can not think of anything that I saw, heard, or thought about that would cause a dream like this.

That is why I am posting here. And why I have posted just before about another dream I had, and why I may post about a few others. They all seem connected, or at least to have very similiar content.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

(Also I will not post again for a while since I did two just in the last few hours. Seems like that would be proper)

I don't know if this particular ritual is used by any religion, but the core concepts (writing your request, leaving offerings, etc.)  are found in many religions.

I tried a few more searches and found some references to this sort of thing in a few different religions. Not this specifically but like you said....a written request and an offering.

Thank you for your reply.
