I suppose you could make a case for djinn simply being another type of elf or wight . . .  It doesn't really seem like a good idea to me to label things from one culture with names from a completely unrelated culture, though.

Oh I was totally kidding btw. I agree, elfs are elfs, djinn are djinn etc.
Really?  So, hey, want to go fishing?  I\'ve got a telescope, and it\'s going to be a dark night, so we should see the fish really well.
...what, I\'m not talking about fishing?  That\'s stargazing?  It\'s all doing-stuff, so it\'s the same thing, right?

Well, he came out of the right area for that.

Could be...

The whole appearing as a being of everlasting fire and all that, plus the part of the world.

Totally just a thought that struck me one day a few months back while reading about the Jinn.

Wait, doesn't the Boonana King eat boonana's only?

Guess again. :dwink:

The Boonana King doesn't discriminate.

And yeah, I know I'm late to the party, but some of us like to enjoy their rare days off work without including the PC. ^^

Where-as being on the PC IS relaxing to me - I alternate between cruising boards and writing my book - too much of either and I start getting twitchy, contrary to what some writing coaches tell you - I get more writing done when I CAN alternate than if I concentrate solely on that.

When I was a heavy gamer, the PC was my relaxation station. Now that I've done the full time uni + full time work thing for a few years... whenever I'm near it I feel like I have a pile of things to do (even if I don't). Hard to learn how to turn the pc off for awhile now.

Even when I was an IT geek - programmer, tech support, etc - I'd come home and dive into the MMORPG that I played off-and-on for around 15 years - it was text based, needed to use your imagination to picture the world and events.

I've been a computer nerd for 40 years now

Yikes, I hope you aren't one of the people who get migraines from too much pc-face time. o.0

Can't say I've done much for text based games, but I played WoW for awhile and on GW2 and allods online now. Eyeing Elder Scrolls Online.. we'll see if I get into the beta or not.

Naw, they are my favourite people. 2 of them are 21 and 19 (no I am not old enough to have kids that age really, just started very young) so they are not in need of "taking care of" and pretty much live their own lives. the other 2 are 7 and 5 and are the funniest couple of people I have ever met in my life.

Wow, pretty spread out there. I've heard that's the best way to do it though, at least according to my father in law. He's pushing for the grandkids, but he just had his 5th at the age of 43 so.. I'm not real keen on following the path of having kids in my house at the age of 60 either...

It seems that I am unable to find anyone that had knowledge about entities or spirit keeping. Most people automatically assume it is enslaving of supernatural beings. This is now enslavement. The question that I now have to those that think it is enslavement.. How would a simple human enslave a powerful Jinn or Faery?

You might want to ask a few of the folks over at the Evocation Magic forums. Just bear in mind, they are not as...patient...as Cauldronites and cutting the fool over there while crying about someone being "judgmental" will just get you laughed out of the place. Considering your extensive knowledge of grimoires I'm a little surprised you a) aren't aware of the practices/rituals one could use for this endeavor and b)aren't asking these kinds of questions in spaces where evocation/invocation are more directly discussed.

When it comes to specialization in magic, it's often better to ask people who perform the kind of workings you are looking for as a main practice. Read the rules over there before you post; PDF begging is strictly forbidden.

My knowledge of this subject is minimal at best, but it takes preparation and time before one is fully capable of summoning/trapping anything. This is one instant where "be careful what you wish for" is not only a wise bit of advise, but something to bear in mind should you proceed. Nothing is worse than knocking at the door and getting an answer before you're ready.

Which grimoire are you working from?
