If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

So I find myself not particularly aligned with any religion
« on: October 09, 2015, 11:50:00 pm »
I've led a spiritual life but I don't exactly claim a religion. I meditate, I do full moon rituals, I've used my own blood many times, I feel like I simply work with energies and vibrations to will certain things into existence. Sometimes when I meditate I hear voices and the goddess has come to me in many dreams, I feel as though I'm a conduit of sorts and the divine works through me. If asked what my religion is I simply say pagan because that would be the closest fit, but I don't have a word for what I actually believe in and do. Does this discribe anyone else? And if so what religion do you claim accordingly?

During the time of my life when that was more or less where I was, I didn't claim a religion, because I didn't have one.  I just said I was pagan.

Same here...actually I still just call myself a neo-pagan.

In college I was briefly a member of a pagan student organization were it was par for the course to label oneself by the 1 or 2 (or 3-4!) traditions you were resonating with most at the moment. Most of us were new-ish, book-wormy, solitary practitioners at the time so it was more like a "these are my favorite pagan books right now" kind of label than a "this is my path" label. Eventually it felt more honest for me to just call myself a neo-pagan, and talk about specific influences if someone was interested.

I'm still not aligned with a particular tradition and the circle I practice with doesn't have a defined cosmology or tradition, so I still feel like that's the best descriptor for me.

I've walked a similar path for it seems I cannot agree with any single religion enough to feel that I can seek membership wholeheartedly. It seems that the Divine favors an honest eclectic before an adherent who just goes through the motions. It often seems as if the universe wants me to learn from certain paths, but not necessarily join them. The Divine always answers my questions, but never directly.I chose to call myself pagan because pagan and western esoteric doctrines seem to match my outlook most. Yet my philosophy has so many other influences. I've been working tirelessly since my first spiritual questions to create a singular practice that integrates all of my influences without erasing the roots of them or engaging in the most hideous forms of cultural appropriation. Something that all at once reflects it's roots whether they're pagan or not, but represents the reality I have come to know. I've tried to come up with a name, but none, no matter what language I use seems to fit. If it ever becomes a tradition, I've considered simply calling it the Nameless Path.

I started a blog. Feel free to peruse. It's still in it's early stages and I have to write more, so do bare with me if it's all a little basic so far.

Ooh, I like that. Makes me think of the nameless (literal) paths to get to places like swimming holes and out of the way places in the woods. There isn't an officially marked "way," but a wandering path that has roots in oral tradition and walkers who came before.

I tend to call myself an Eclectic Spiritualist, when I have to call myself anything. Oddly, that gets fewer odd looks than saying I'm Pagan. I've tried adhering to a couple of different traditions, but it never sticks. Following my own way seems to work better.
