Sages from what I have gathered from a library database are men that are used by Kings for hard treacherous tasks. They are not magickal. They were used to transport specialty items such as jewels and fine metals to other kingdoms that were far away, thus making the journey dangerous.

Yes!! I could consider him a Sage, but he is not in a setting with Royals. He is just a simple Hobbit that is a friend to Gandalf.

So what are your views of what a Sage is? Geez, do I need to cite? MLA or APA? I feel like I'm back in college for Botany.

Please, do.  I'd rather if you cite MLA format; the APA is generally not used outside of psychology.

Back in college for botany?  I just cited a list the size of a yard stick for a classics paper.  On a topic about religion.

Us pagans and scholars like us some sources.

what I have gathered from a library database

Name of library
Name of text or paper
Name of author
Chapter and page numbers

at a minimum.

Otherwise, it's all still BS  (and this has a higher ratio of that than anything yet)

They can be used that way, but some (like sage and mystic) also have common meanings that have nothing to with the practice of magic.

IMHO, your question is similar to asking the name of a certain flower. The marigold will not lose it's petals if confused with a daisy. A name is just that and nothing else - a mere name. A flower will be a flower regardless of how you call it, will not lose it's beauty, colors or fragancy. Whoever cares more than a second of his/her lifetime with such a thing, probably still have many things to learn along the way to realize how important it really is.
As Randall stated, these are only titles used by diferent traditions of pagan practice, most of them are quite equivalent, and, if carefully analyzed, a big share of them have the same meaning. Basicaly, it's like asking if there's a diference among Prince, Rzecz and Príncipe (being all of them words for the same royal title, the first in plain English, the second in Polish and the third in Portuguese).
I highly recomend you to study the history of Paganism and it's many branches, so you'll understand the origin of all these names and titles. They can be very misleading and confusing at first. I've studied it myself and that's the reason I do recomend it. Broadened my horizons. Here's a piece of friendly advice: even though there are many traditions out there, they all have the same root. Once you understand the root it comes from, it all becomes a matter of preferences.

Good luck,

CCardinot -

Please don't change the font colors or justification for an entire post.  For emphasis is one thing - for an entire post can make it unreadable for those of us with less than perfect eyes.

Thanks.

I found another type or Magick that stems from Saudi Arabia. The men are called Sahir's or Sihir's. I haven't been able to find a lot about the Sahir's. I have only been able to find out that they work exclusively with the Djinn and are considered evil magicians. I'm really skeptical about the whole evil title. The only information that I was able to come across was from a member at a Islamic Mosque. Sahir are generally conjures of the Djinn and sometimes bind them to objects. They also have the ability to perform exorcisms on people that are possessed by evil Djinn.
