Mourning The Departure of my Spirit Animal
« on: January 16, 2014, 03:14:59 am »
Not completely sure if this topic goes here, please tell me if you think it'd be better suited for a different category :)

So, my spirit animal was a Raven. Given my name, which manifested to me in the actual world, following me around from 2013 until recently. I connected to my Raven, which soon turned into Ravens whom I found out to be (in my belief) Huginn and Muninn, known from Norse mythology in relation to the Norse God Odin. Which I thought peculiar since I knew nothing about Norse Mythology.

Anyways, I use to be able to wind down, ground myself before bed and meditate until I fell unto a different plane where I communicated and saw my spirit animal, who was only one of the two Ravens (the both of them I only saw in my every day life, never on this spiritual plane).

Now, I have tried to reach that plane, and cannot seem to. Which at first, had me panicky since they seemed to come to me and watch over me when I was at my most vulnerable (whenever my boyfriend was at work and I lived alone, etc.) But now, we live back with my parents, where my step dad is always home as well as my newborn son. Yet my boyfriend says he sees the two Ravens all the time. I wonder if maybe they were watching over me for him? Not completely sure. (my boyfriend is not Wiccan like I am, just more spiritual and finding what he believes in one day at a time).

But I am still sad that I cannot reach them or speak with them anymore.

Has anyone else felt this or dealt with something similar?

I mean, I knew that not all spirit animals stay for good, but I had hoped they would have.

"Under your wing I feel complete safety,
Atop your talon I feel free,
Against your feathers my body is awakened,
At your beak I intake breath.

...
In the air I can be,
Holding fast to your scaly feet,
Large and powerful being,
Taking me higher and higher; So I can\'t breathe."

It's OK to mourn.

And yes, I have dealt with it before. Sometimes, spirit animals are with us only until we have reached a certain place in our life lessons. Sometimes, they need to move away in order to allow something new to come in. Sometimes, this is permanent, and sometimes it is temporary.

Just a thought - try moving to your safe place, where you go when you move into a different plane, and open yourself up to receive whoever might be there for you.

You might just be pleasantly surprised.

I will definitely try to open myself up to all that can be there, I hadn't thought about it. Thanks! :)
