Any Slavic Pagans/Polytheists around?
« on: August 02, 2017, 07:16:05 am »
Hey all.

I'm very new to Slavic paganism stuff (old hat at Norse polytheism though) and I was wondering if there are many of us around? I've just started and I'd love to meet other Slavic pagans and ask some questions - just not sure where y'all are on this internet!

So, hello!

We've got a little Slavic and Baltic-specific corner of the Cauldron around here somewhere - check in the religious SIGs.  I think most of the people who have ties in that corner are dual-trad and Complicated rather than straight-up Slavic, but there are at least a handful of dabblers.

Hehe, I too am dual-trad and Complicated :D

I did see the SIG, and it has a lot of really good information, but it seems to be mostly dead at the moment. Fingers crossed some people come back.

I'm not necessarily a follower, but I found an amazing book on the rituals, lore, etc of russia.  It's called the Bathhouse At Midnight : an historical survey of magic and divination in russia.  It's an academic read, but it's got such interesting and historically accurate information.  I hope you give it a look!

Returning Slavic pagan here. Newly arrived. I know this is old, but I thought I would sound off. With Slavic paganism, you definitely need some kind of philosophy or guiding framework, because a lot of the actual "paganism" is fairly vague and open to interpretation. Stuff like vague allusions by Christian chroniclers, and seasonal folk festivals, Epic Songs like the Bylinas, etc. For my part, I lean heavily on comparative analysis with related or neighboring cultures.

Hi!

I'm unearthing this topic a little, but I'm a Slavic Pagan, although I'm sort of new to the topic and am not a big expert of it.
