Transwoman School teacher dies.
« on: March 21, 2013, 05:47:23 pm »
Following from an earlier discussion on this forum last month about a Transwoman and the amazing reporting of the conservative press,  a friend of mine showed me this piece in the Manchester Evening News (not too bad bit of reporting, imho!)

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/local-news/teacher-due-begin-new-term-1767749

However, what is truly awful is the reporting/opinion in the Daily Mail 3 months ago of the same woman:

http://web.archive.org/web/20121226073921/http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2251347/Nathan-Uptons-wrong-body--hes-wrong-job.html

So it looks like a good possibility that the Daily Fail, with its "Expose" of her transition may have led to her death. :(  My thoughts go out to her family and her friends that she left behind.

(Also, I apologise if i have used the wrong terminology, please feel free to correct me :) )

As a quick note, generally speaking "trans woman" is preferred.  You wouldn't say "blackwoman" or "blondewoman", after all. ;)

That's the first I've ever heard of that, and I've been using "transwoman" and "transman" for awhile. I'm not jumping on you, just... really surprised I didn't know that was an issue! /The More You Know

Lucy was a close friend of a friend of mine. My friend K has known her a long time. Recently they were talking about getting all of the proceedures completed and how brilliant life was going to be.

I know that I have waited a while before joining in with this thread, but I've been trying to help K cope. She, and all of of Lucy's other friends, are having a really hard time with this. Lucy will be very much missed by a great number of people.

My thoughts go out to K and all of Lucy's other friends and family, it seems testament to her that so many people loved her and will miss her.
