Speaking, could Sunflower or any other person versed in LGBTQ history recommend some good resources? I'm aware of stonewall and a bare minimum of either events but would like to learn more.

My bet is the reporter does not understand what Stonewall was. I did not until I came out and taught myself.

 
Regrettably, it seems likely you're right.  Still, IMO, if someone is a journalist for a LGBTQ news publication, s/he is under an implicit obligation to get off hir arse and do that self-teaching.

Wikipedia is a pretty good start point (LGBT Portal), and of course the "references" and "external links" sections will take you to further sources.

glbtq bills itself as "the world's largest encyclopedia of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer culture"; they may be right - at any rate, it's a rich resource.

TheFamous GLTB People list is biographic rather than historical per se.

The GLBT Historical Society site doesn't seem to have a lot of online info (it's mainly the website for the society and its museum in SF), but you might find some info, or some ideas for useful search terms.

BiFlag.com has some bisexual activism history.

The Leather Archives & Museum is, again, the website for a bricks-and-mortar museum, but has some historic info online - leather culture began as a gay subculture, though it's no longer specifically so.

Some Canadian ones, that might well have info that's not Canada-specific:
Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives (another physical archive, so again what's online may be limited)
The Pride Library at University of Western Ontario (probably better for online-available materials, since it's an academic library)
And the blog The Drummer's Revenge, aptly subtitled "LGBT history and politics in Canada"

Oddly, I don't seem to have the site Wood Rose mentioned bookmarked - I'll have to check that out.
