"A  proposal to declare Nepal a Hindu state was overwhelmingly rejected by  the constituent assembly on Monday which reaffirmed that the  Hindu-majority nation will remain secular."

Disappointing, but I guess little can be expected of the savages in power since the monarchy was overthrown.

I prefer secular governments. I really don't like theocracies as they tend to be hostile to those who belief differently than the official line (even if those who "believe differently" are supposedly of the same religion). Governments should remain secular, IMHO.

No, not really. I'm always in favour of religion playing a large public role in the state; and that extends to Nepal.
