Man hacked to death in London - possible terrorist attack
« on: May 22, 2013, 05:55:26 pm »
Quote

A man has been killed in a machete attack and two suspects shot by police in Woolwich, south-east London.

The Met Police said a murder inquiry was being led by its Counter Terrorism Command. Prime Minister David Cameron said the UK would "never buckle" in the face of terror attacks.

Footage has emerged showing a man wielding a bloodied meat cleaver and making political statements.

Police confirmed two men had been arrested in connection with the murder.

There are unconfirmed reports that the dead man was a soldier.

WTF? And I'm told they have British accents, which suggests they're home-grown. Between this and the Boston Marathon bombing, the spectre of domestic radicalization has me worried.
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

I saw this and watched the footage of it on ITV too. Horriffic, absolutely deranged. However, the sensationalism of the press dubbing it a "Machete attack" didn't really help. The footage of the attacker shows him with a kitchen knife and meat cleaver. Unless the second attacker had a machete, which you don't see in the footage, you can't actually determine that.

Listening to him spouting about "Women in our countries" when he has a North London accent left me a little confused. Not sure what point he was trying to make, or how he was trying to justify his attack.

What made this worse, and makes these "Terrorists'" attack a success is the response of the EDL (English Defence League) who then went out and attacked Mosques over night...

My thoughts, however, go out to the Soldier who was attacked and murdered in such a brutal and callous manner, to his family, friends and colleagues, May he Rest in Peace.

It's kind of sad that the writer apparently thinking a machete and meat cleaver are the same thing is the only thing that really made me angry about this story.

I am probably way too desensitized at this point.
