* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Open letter to Elizabeth Warren on a prisoner’s right to medical transition

If the govt is paying for something it is the govts business how it spends it's money.  If the govt doesn't want to pay for a procedure or drug they don't have to.

Does that just apply to neccessary health care or does it apply to other areas as well? For instance, if the government doesn't want to pay for Jews to recieve as good of an education as blacks, they don't have to?

Ultimately, we ARE the government -- at least in the U.S., which is where this case is taking place.  As citizens, we're all responsible for the choices our government makes.

No, they can not discriminate based upon a protected class.  They can decide not to pay for high school science beyond say 9th grade biology.

If you don't like the choices being made elect different people to make those choices.

I had no idea that Captain Obvious had taken up political analysis.

So could they decide to not pay for sickle-cell disease treatments? (Unless I'm wrong, this is a disease that mostly affects blacks).

No, as it's a health issue.  Even though sickle-cell affects mainly blacks, they are a "protected class" and are entitled to full health benefits

Same with Tay-Sachs, which is mainly confined to those of Jewish descent, a genetic disorder.

No matter what group you belong to, you are entitled to the same health care level as any other - no exceptions.

Probably. Although I suspect that criteria used would have to be more discerning than a flat out ban on a specific disease.

That right there is the point I'm trying to make.  Ethically, a transexual is as much of a protected class as a black or a jew.  Legality and ethics, unfortunately, don't always match up.
