I was thinking this too. Our public transit system isn't going to be working all day Monday. I called work to let them know I can't make it in and they want me to find a way there. There has already been an announcement to tell all non-state/essential
workers to stay home and not go to work. My job is a corporate jack hole and they don't care. During the snowstorm last year they stayed open despite not having any power in the stores. They risked their employees dying on the road and so on just for a small profit.

For Gods' sake there is an evacuation in place. People these days.

They really want you to go in? Even our corporate office in PA is shut down for a few days, our shipments are delayed until probably friday or so. Weird...

On the flip side a company I worked for ashore did the opposite.  We did on scene tech support for the govt under contract.  The govt shut down all but essential personnel for about a week due to heavy snow on the road here in Virginia.  With the govt facilities shut we had no billable hours.  The company encouraged us to stay home and use vacation time rather than risk driving into work and then just sit around getting paid for nothing. And if you didn't have vacation time on the books, you didn't get paid.

Just a quick post to say my family came through the storm fine.  We got a LOT of rain and very high winds, and there's a lot of flooding of rivers and streams in the area.  But that's about it.

The worst effect has been the major migraines for my daughter and me.  We're both still in a lot of pain, but hoping it will ease off soon.

Just wanted to check in before heading back to bed.  Thank the gods for pain meds!!! ;)

I hope everyone else is also safe and sound!

Still no power at home (which means no heat or water either) and a nor'easter on the horizon for tomorrow. :P  Other than that my housemate and I are doing okay. It could definitely have been a lot worse.
