User names.

Why did you choose your TC user name? Is it significant to your path? a nickname? Something you use elsewhere? etc.

Okay, I'll bite, if only because I'm avoiding writing a sermon.

I was elected Pope of my undergraduate college many years ago, because of reasons.  Naturally, I needed a papal name!  And Pope Joan II seemed a little too on-point, but the original Pope Valentine was basically elected by corrupt nobles and didn't last long, and that seemed appropriately darkly humorous.  So I was Pope Valentine II.  And it was a wise and hilarious reign that netted me an aliased e-mail address, so you could get me by mailing valentine@myalmamater, basically, and that was the most straightforward address I had that didn't use my legal name, so I used it for a bunch of online business, to the point where a lot of long-distance friends started thinking of "Valentine" and "Val" as my actual name, and since I wasn't attached to my then-legal name, I ran with it.  (I still answer to it, in real life, actually, nearly as readily as my actual name.)
When I signed up for TC, it was through being referred by people who were of the calling-me-Val camp, and it seemed like a sensible handle to take, especially if I wanted to be somewhat separate from my much-higher-profile blogging handle, because I wanted some privacy.  And I tried to pretty it up by referring to my religious work, as "Psychopomp Valentine," because I habitually run with psychopomps and do adjunct-psychopomp work as a witch and because I liked the notion of getting/giving little love letters from the borders of Death.  But it was sort of cumbersome and pretentious, so when the Cauldron migrated I cut it back down to "Valentine."

I know, you're all fascinated.

Moin Moin.

Nymeria. It´s very simple - and it´s even not.

The name I took from the Book "Song of Ice and Fire" from George R. R. Martin.
There Nymeria is a shadow-wolf. That´s the simple version.

But I don´t choose it myself. This name chose me. In a little bit strange way.

I had a time where I was interested in my dark sides and the shadows, I left behind me in my life. Sure, they are still there and want to get back into my life. So I decided to act self and bring them back - before they come when I need them less.

One evening I stood in my home in the dark and thought about many things. Suddenly there was a physical shadow in front of me in the dark. It was a wolf and my first thought was "shadow-wolf". The second idea to this thought was "Nymeria".

So I became a wolf of my own shadows and took this name for myself.
Nothing in my life seems to be un-strange :o
Yours
Nymeria

I'll start..

Arcadia is a name given to me by one of my patrons. It has layered meaning. It seemed only natural for me to use it here.

If this name hadn't been available on TC I'm not entirely sure what I would have chosen..... I'm terrible at choosing names :o.

Your turn...

Sarkana-night or rather Sarkana Night is my artist name, so I just used it here too.

Well, I dunno about anyone else, but I was fascinated - the names I knew you by off-TC were different ones, so the only reason I even recognized you when you turned up here was by the avatar you chose to begin with (and since it was one of the stock avatars, and a fairly popular one, it took a while even then for me to twig to the subtle visual pun in your particular use of it - OTOH, it still makes me chuckle).  So it's something I'd wondered about (the Valentine part - the psychopomp part was obvious).

One endeavors to entertain.  (Sunflower met me first under my higher-profile blogging handle, as did a few others here.)  I was pleased with the pun, too.  Now, mind, the name THAT pun refers to is itself a pun, as a loose translation of my first name.  RECURSIVE PUNS.

Remember, everyone, Darkhawk unleashed me here, and it is her fault.

Mine was pretty simple. Sephonie is a spin off of Persephone who I have always felt close to. Strange is because I am embracing the non-conformist lifestyle. I am strange, so that makes sense.

Which non-conformist lifestyle would that be? There's a lot of leeway in that category.

Do you drink coffee? You can't be a nonconformist if you don't drink coffee.

I thought it was fairly interesting. :whis:

The story of my username is far less colourful. I started using SkySamuelle as my online alias when I was in middle school and began writing fanfictions in English. I actually learned english because I was all sorts of obsessed with a canadian spy TV show -La Femme Nikita- and I got into the habit of translating transcrips of episodes that weren't airing in Italy. The 'Samuelle' part is actually the last name of one of male protagonists of the show, who had the dubious honor of being my favorite borderline-sociopathic spy.

When I got into paganism and pagan forums, I was so used to have this online identity in fandom that it was sort of the alternate, secret me already. Using it came naturally.

Mine kinda popped into my head at random. At present I'm unsure of my beliefs and seeking, as the name implies, but I think I'll always be seeking and learning in a sense. There's always more to know and I guess that's what 'everseeking' means.

Sometimes I stare at it and wonder the same. >.> The day I joined I was really tired cuz I'd stayed up all night. Idk, it just popped into my head how I used to like sassafras soda when I was a kid and that their twigs are yummy to chew on. And I was reeeeaaally tired and literally could not think of anything better and I wanted to finish joining while I still had internet access so yeah.
