Inspired by a thread on the old forum
User names.

Why did you choose your TC user name? Is it significant to your path? a nickname? Something you use elsewhere? etc.

I'll start..

Arcadia is a name given to me by one of my patrons. It has layered meaning. It seemed only natural for me to use it here.

If this name hadn't been available on TC I'm not entirely sure what I would have chosen..... I'm terrible at choosing names

spoOk is a nickname,and on the intarwebs I'm spook almost everywhere.
if not the alternates have been : skittle spook,spook777 and last ditch resort because lots of folks in cyber land choose spook related names in goff circles : bodyfarmbrat. so far the last has never been taken lol....so hands off! lol

I first came up with this name back in the early 80's when I found Wicca and its -ish relations. When I found teh intarwebs and started hanging out in fora, I also found that this name was almost ALWAYS available--so I kept using it.

I've grown rather attached to it.

Kylara is a name inspired by one of my guides, and it's been something that I feel encapsulates my personal path. I have used it on pretty much every Pagan site I have been on for years now, and it's nice to have some sort of continuity.

FierFlye is a name I made up for DeviantArt many years ago. I can't really recall why I choose it, other than the standard spelling of firefly was already taken and I hate adding numbers to my user name. I like fireflies, but I don't have any particular affinity to them, and it doesn't have anything to do with the show.

Now I use all over the internet, to the point where googling it will give you tons of hits on me, but googling my real name will give you nothing.

My sister nicknamed me Stephy about 20 years ago (she's 22 now, so at the time she was still mastering the whole talking thing), and the J and H are my middle and last initials. I'm boring.

I found "Melamphoros" on a lexicon on Sannion's old sight (I think it no longer exists, sadly). I think he defined it as "wearing black" and I picked it because I was going through my high school goth phase (which I never quite grew out of). I think it could be more accurately be translated as "carrying black" or "bearing black" but everyone just shortens it to "Mel" anyway.

I use it exclusively on TC and my spiritual blog (I either use my pen name or different handles elsewhere). I actually debated for a while whether I should change it when we switched to vBulletin but at this point the name is a part of me just like my legal name.

Micheál is the Irish variant of my given name, Michael. I'm called Micheál by my Irish speaking friends, and some of my work mates, so it seemed like an appropriate alias for a board since I'm also a Gaelic Polytheist.

A friend of mine has always told people that I am an angel...except my wings are black and i lost my halo when the others figured out I was too demonic for Heaven and kicked me out.

fallenangel is the ONLY name I use on sites.

I have a set of hard and fast names that I use for various things, and I like to keep my different internet lives as compartmentalized as possible--especially since some could potentially jeopardize my professional reputation, so I'm trying to figure out how to have my proverbial cake and eat it too. But for now, I'm okay with my different communities not knowing what circles I run in.

Mostly I wanted something that was as path-nonspecific as possible since I'm still sorting things out.

Herkles is a variation on Hercules, which I chose after playing a video game, rome:total war. ever since then, I have gone by herkles on various forums, it is also a bit unique IMO.

I looked at the name space while signing up, blanked and put in candlemagic lol. I like that form of magic and it's really the only one I do use aside from Rites for Sabbats. So not as cool as some of the others on here.

Mine's pretty simple. I mashed together my middle name (now you all know my middle name...) and bay (like the tree!). Voila! An internet name that has absolutely nothing to do with my professional life and is far easier to pronounce than my given name.
