Faith is it belief, trust or something else?
« on: September 30, 2012, 07:53:21 pm »
During service today the minister said, in Western Civilization today questions about faith are concerned with the belief or disbelief in God.  Where in the past the question of faith was about trust or not trusting God.

The question is, is the core of your faith about belief, trust, both or something else?

For me it is about trust, I always knew there was what I call GOD, even when I told you there was no such thing.

I became a full-blown alcoholic, when I told the Christian aspect of God that "I cannot not trust you to do what I want done, when I wanted done, I have to do it myself".

My Alcoholism was removed when I put my trust in what I call (and always knew to be) GOD.  My GOD has told me what I need to do to remain in that GRACE.

Please note the capital word are not for shouting, but to specify  that I am speaking about 'that which everything is the manifestation of'.

When I disavowed the Christian God, I told him so, which in retrospect was an odd thing to do, since I had an extremely poor concept of deity back then.

But I like the way your minister put it... whenever I heard someone else say "belief", or "do you believe in a higher power?" I always thought to myself that "belief" wasn't the right word. I think "trust" nails it.

So long as I can trust that things will fall down and not up, that rain will fall and the sun will shine for a few billion more years, I can trust my gods to do what they need to do here.

For me, it is trust and belief. The belief that my gods exist and then the trust that "the unknown" will somehow be sorted out. I always needed that trust, my entire lifestyle is a game of chance. I need someone else to scream at when the rains don't come (figuratively that is, Thor says no screaming at him). And when I found that trust, found a belief that "clicked," it was like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.

Add a dash of folklore, a few centuries of farmer\'s blood and mix well.
