Earth-based Judaism Study Series
« on: December 06, 2012, 06:12:17 am »
Hey everyone ^__^ (I'm still kind of new, so nice to meet you!)

I have no idea how many of you might be interested in this, but I recently started a study program through the website "Peeling a Pomegranate" (http://www.peelapom.com/)  called "Earth-based Judaism 101", which is a multiple-course study series (designed by a Judeo-Pagan scholar named Ketzirah/Carly Lesser, who I have found to be very knowledgable and interesting) that teaches about how to follow a more magical, Pagan-inspired Jewish path (which she refers to as "The Path of M’agelet").

I started a blog called Min Ha'Aretz (http://ourlightinthedark.wordpress.com/), that will document my progress through the study series (there's not much there yet, just one post right now, since I only just started). If you're interested in learning about how Judaism can be combined with common magical practices, divination techniques, a more Earth-based/natural lifestyle, and a more polytheistic way of thinking, I encourage you to check it (as well as "Peeling a Pomegranate"!) out. I've been following a Kemetic-influenced Jewish path for a while now, combining the polytheistic worship of the Kemetic Pantheon (which I have deeply connected with) with the ancestral/holiday traditions (as well as Kabbalistic magic) of Judaism (which was the religion I grew up with) - but it's nice to finally find a study program that seems to tie in all of my religious interests in a concise manner. There's always more to learn!

I think it's really neat that "magical Jews" are starting to pop up throughout the world spiritual community nowadays - it's nice to see the religion of my childhood develop and grow and continue to evolve as more and more people (both born into it and converting to it) adopt it to fit their own personal preferences and purposes. (Of course, the Orthodox Jews might not call that "Judaism" anymore, but I've always believed that we are what we call ourselves, not what someone else calls us!)

Just thought I would share this here in the Interfaith section of TC ^__^ Thanks for reading!

Well, I'm interested, even if no one else is. I actually did a lot of proper study into Judaism earlier in the year for a story I was writing, and found a lot there that I liked. I'm not Jewish myself, though; I was raised Christian before I was claimed by Kemetic Gods. I will keep an eye on your blog, though, and the other blog you posted about, just to see how you manage to make all this work, because I didn't know Judaism could be practised in this way.

Ah, yes the Jewitchery that calls out those to see the roots of the faith! B'rakhah on your endeavors and I plan on reading your blog.

Some other places of interest for you might be : Kohenet.org and TheWalkingStick.org
