My religious view and where i would fall
« on: August 04, 2015, 12:43:55 pm »
Help?
I am not sure where i would fall in the pagan world. I don't believe in a deity, rather i believe that all spirits have the potential to be god like. I feel a connection to certain spirits, but it's very vague.
Whenever i do spells i always honor the god or goddess connected to it. I believe in the spirits in general and i honor the specifics when something comes up.
I highly respect nature and i refer to the different spirits in the categories god and goddess. It just represents the masculine and feminine spirits to me.

I really like the way you look at spirits and Nature. I approach things somewhat similarly, regarding the gods as higher beings, and Nature (which I define as the entirety of existence) as the supreme being - as being itself, actually. Higher beings are to me, then, beings who have greater knowledge and familiarity with Nature than we do. Like you, I also feel a stronger connection with certain beings (while understanding that I am connected to all beings). I've found that Paganism does not at all preclude this kind of thinking and believing. I am, for example, an adherent of my own religious perspective, what I call 'Relative Being,' which includes what I also call 'Present Day Paganism.' One of the things I have always respected about Paganism is that it is quite possible to be Pagan without fitting neatly into any of the various Pagan religions, themselves.

I hope that helps :-)

Rather than concentrating on where you "fit" under the pagan umbrella, I'd recommend instead reading and learning about various traditions. You may find additional ideas and philosophies you like the sound of, practices you wish to incorporate, and your idea of spirit/deity/etc. may continue to evolve. That said, you mention spells so you may want to explore various witchcraft traditions. Perhaps someone here who is involved in magic could give some names to this...I don't practice magic so I am not very familiar with traditions that do this.
