Don't  think so. It was mostly some fundamentalist website which managed to read an awful lot into some of the themes - including of course the cauldron!

Pagan elements? What, the Maypole dancing? Glastonbury Tor (which had a monastery on it?)I spent an hour bitching about the lack of druids and King Arthur and such. Did us Americans get shorted on pagan content, too?

I'll bet the people involved in the actual writing of and set up of the opening ceremonies didn't know they were doing any of this.  Paganism must be simply natural to everyone.

Ah. Yeah. That site reminds me of the people who are on the Ancient Aliens show put on by the History Channel. Everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING) has something to do with extraterrestrials according to those folks.
