2019 Donation Drive

It's time for our annual Server Donation Drive! We need to raise at least $650 (same as last year) to keep The Cauldron's server online for another year. Please help! Either hit that Paypal button to the right and make a one-time donation in any amount or set up a monthly Bronze, Silver or Gold Donor subscription. You can find more info in this message!

Donations as of 16 Sept 2019: $660 donated. $10 more our minimum goal! Let's beat last year's total of $99 more than the minimum!

Note: This total is updated manually, usually once a day

* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

What are you all listening to in the way of podcasts that are not specifically Pagan or religious? Feel free to rec things in the thread, or to call out especially good episodes.

So, I started this because I am nearly done listening to the first season of the very sensibly named David Tennant Does A Podcast, which I've been taking my time with because it's delightful. It's a very low-structure conversational podcast with different people (whom he clearly knows well) ranging from Michael Sheen to Olivia Colman to Gordon Brown to Ian McKellan (and many others!).

I really love the kindness of it, and the way the conversations range from complex things to much simpler pleasures or enjoyments.

More teasers from the podcast Twitter feed.

I hit cookin' stuff, usually. One of my all-time favorites is Alton Brown's podcast with William Shatner. He's chillin' at his place makin' old fashioned biscuits and gravy. Alton is fanboying so hard at Shatner in this one. It's beautiful. A lot of good information in this episode, especially regarding the perfect biscuit.

More interesting than amusing, this.

And I confess I've not actually listened to the original podcast...

I'm currently watching Amazon Prime series Lore, which I gather was produced off the back of a popular podcast.

I really enjoyed the format of the first season, kind of blend of a reconstruction and factual content. I'm one ep into S2 and it seems to be favouring the reconstruction format much more heavily, with just a touch of factual 'follow up' at the conclusion.

I listen to Lore as a podcast (and the Amazon show is on my to watch list when I get there.) The podcast is not immensely footnoted, but the episodes where he's talked about topics I know well, the info has been pretty much in keeping with well-researched things.

I just watched the first episode of season one since Perdita mentioned it. Been meaning to look into it for a while. It was interesting, but I think I might check out the podcast since that sounds more my speed from what Jenett was saying here. I thought the reconstruction(though not bad)interfered with the facts and actual folklore I wanted to know more about. I see that season 2 is a way lower rating, probably for the reasons mentioned above. Don't think I'll be touching it since the reconstruction stuff is ever more present.

...I remembered something! I read Murder Minute- it features gory true crime stories(with pictures). It now has a podcast, not sure if I'll listen to it since I like how it's presented in the app/blog already. Though, I honestly have to take a break from it sometimes. Good fodder for stories, though.
