After watching the first episode of this season, I've had to stop watching.  I'm really not happy with the story arc at this point.

I was getting the 2nd series on DVD through LoveFilm and gave up half way through. It just became too much of a soap opera for my tastes.... and the stereotyping of the men and women really began to irritate me.

You brought up a good point, they do stereotype the hell out of men and women. Women being helpless and men being heartless.

Laurie was rather heartless.  And Glenn is not coping well right now.  Just sayin'.  But in general, yes they do stereotype them.

Fair point, but I personally got the impression that Laurie and Glenn were set-up to be the 'but we have these two so we aren't really stereotyping' characters (if that even makes any sense).

I just thought she was too fickle.  I mean, she basically told Rick to kill Shane, then he did, and she gets her panties in a twist.  I too am really enjoying seeing Carol take a more active role.  I was excited to see her and Axel start to get cozy and then *bam*.  Oh well, she's always got Daryl, though they seem so different.

Yeah she changes her mind way to much. I think Carol is pretty tough considering what she's been through.

True.  Though with all they have been through, everyone in their group is tough even if they aren't always acting like it.  Going through something where you can never be off guard and stuff keep coming at you endlessly in a life or death way, and losing so many loved ones so fast in such horrible fashion makes it tough to remain sane.  And look at the installment - when they had a break-in, everyone grabbed a gun and used it well.  Most women will tell you they are against guns, and don't have a clue how to shoot one, so that shows inherent toughness right there.

Just sayin' - as a middle aged woman who owns guns and knows how to shoot them.  Most of my peers are bothered by this fact and would have a lot of trouble learning to react the necessary way to stay alive in that situation.

So I think they are tougher than you think.  It should also be considered that they are in the South - and how are women trained from birth to act in the South?  Just the way my father wanted me to act, but my mother didn't back him up.  So they are less likely to truly act tough if they stay in character.

I still don't understand why, seeing how they live in post-Apocalympia (Three Dog-ism), they didn't just negotiate a poly-V.

Yep, I'm watching. What I don't get is, why didn't they have some kind of plan for people dieing inside the prison. I mean, people die all the time. If you know those people will turn when they die, have some kind of plan for dealing with that!

just sayin...

They probably had a plan, but not for people dying of sickness. It seems to have caught them way off guard.

See, that's kind of my point. You've got all of these people living in very close quarters, limited food and water, hygiene is obviously an issue. People are going to get sick under those circumstances.

Plus, the apocalypse has been on for a while now. Even if they find medicines and whatnot, eventually, that stuff is going to get old and loose it's effectiveness. There aren't labs making any more, so...

I know I'm probably over thinking it. That's because I take meds that keep me alive. In a scenario like TWD, I'm screwed.
