Disney's Little Mermaid was released closer to the Moon Landing than to today.

Thanks.  Thanks for that.  :p

I dunno if it'll mitigate that feeling, or exacerbate it, or just make you feel like you're not shut out of this thread by it, but....

I remember being really impressed by the Disney animated version of Robin Hood.  Robin and Marian as foxes!  What's not to like?

I have a vague memory of 101 Dalmatians.  But I don't remember Robin Hood (which came out about 10 years later) -- until I had kids, anyway.  They loved it.  For the same reason, I think: the foxes.

They still teasingly complain about how I wouldn't let them watch Peter Pan because I thought it was so racist and sexist.

Wait.....A Hundred and One Dalmatians and Bambi .

I think I must have watched A Hundred and One Dalmatians more than a million times when I was younger, both the Disney animated and live action film. That and Fern Gully.

:ange: The Landing was only 12 years before I was born, but because it was before I was born, it feels even longer ago.  So that fact makes me feel older than it should.

I actually remember sitting in my little white rocking chair in the middle of the living room floor and watching the moon landing on TV.

I was....a concept-becoming-reality when the moon landing happened.

The idea that The Little Mermaid is considered to be closer to that moment in history than to today just depresses the hell out of me.

Which is probably what the comic artist was going for.  I think it was xkcd.

My stepmother went into one of those moods the other day, when my four-year-old brother got to watch Hercules and she realised the film was 15 years old.
