TRUTH. Ginny looked like she was playing dress-up. And quite honestly, I was waiting for Hermione to turn to Harry and say "Albus Severus? Honestly, Harry. Albus bloody Severus? What the hell was wrong with Brian? Merlin's saggy left testicle, the kid's initials are ASP. You've doomed him to Slytherin. What is wrong with you?" while Ron gently drags her away to a bookstore where she can calm down.

I'm afraid I love you now, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Needed more battle scenes. The book did better there I think.

The fight scenes especially are where I wished more of the movies had been directed by Alfonso Cuarón, who directed Prisoner of Azkaban.  After the war scenes in , I'm completely convinced that especially the last movie would have been perfect for him.

P.S.  The vid is violent, and probably not safe for work.

Okay, I've seen it now, so I can actually comment on the movie.

I actually thought it was pretty spectacular. Usually I find the movies kind of disappointing because I was so obsessed with the books, but this one I really enjoyed. Neville and Professor McGonagall (I love Dame Maggie Smith!) made the movie for me, and I thought the "fanfic" ending was cute. The special effects were amazing, I loved when they were casting the magical shield around Hogwarts.

Wow... Typically I criticize how HP movies don't live up to the books, but I have mostly positive things about this one. I could have used more o Dumbledore's back story, and they only mentioned Remus and Tonk's son when Harry saw the ghosts but not during the epilogue scene. They only mentioned Grindelwald in passing in HP7 Part 1, I expected Part 2 to elaborate a little more. I always think it must be difficult for someone who hasn't read the books to follow the movies.

I saw it yesterday and, suprisingly for me, I really loved it. I really, really did. I also liked the epilogue. It wrapped things up in a way that couldn't be done any other way. I still think that the book is better, but I don't think that I've ever watched a film that I thought was better than the book!

That's pretty much been my experience with almost any movie-from-a-book. And that includes movies that I've seen before reading the book. (The only exceptions I can think of at the moment would be adaptations of The Three Musketeers, but other than that......)

CHitty Chitty Bang Bang the movie is much better than the book.  OF course, they also have very little in common except the magic car and the family names.

The bit about him snapping the Elder wand at the end made me laugh a bit. I whispered to my friend "He could have at least used the uber-powerful wand to fix the goddamned castle. Douche move, Harry."

Am I the only one who thinks that destroying the "most powerful wand in existence" cries out for the dramatic treatment? Smoke, fire, sound effects, that sort of thing? Come on now! What they showed in the movie I could duplicate by snapping an old twig in my back yard!

I watched it with a friend who said the exact same thing afterwards. Even Bellatrix's wand was at least 'unyielding'!

As far as that part goes, I think the logic of Harry's being able to snap the Elder Wand in two might have something to do with the wand recognizing Harry as its rightful "master".

(grumble, mutter) I still say they should've left in Harry fixing his wand first!
