Any Broadway fans?

I'm a huge Broadway fan. I get seasons tickets for Broadway Across America every year. I just went and saw The Book of Mormon tonight and it was amazing! So incredibly funny.

I love musicals. I just can't afford to go see them very often.

I really can't afford to either. The season tickets are a standing Christmas/Birthday gift from my mom.

I usually just get the soundtracks and watch high school productions of it on YouTube, or circulate DVD's of performances among friends. My mother was a huge fan, so I did get to see quite a few when I was younger.

Only heard of Book of Mormon. Not usually my thing, although I think something similar-- Altar Boyz ?--was cute. It was about a Christian boy band, and it's staged like a concert, and their composer is Jewish, and they have a love ballad that goes "You make me wanna wait...til then, I'll mastur-- myownfate!"

I'm also a huge fan of Kerrigan-Lowdermilk's concept albums, which still has very much the Broadway-influenced musical styles, and of course the talent of their vocalists. (I mean, it was because I grew up watching onstage musicals that I can't take these reality shows searching for pop star talent seriously. There are so many good vocalists in the world, they're just not in the recording industry.) (Or the recording industry does something to them. I swear, Lea Michele's voice gave me chills in Spring Awakening but when I hear her on Glee my reaction's always, "What'd they do to you Lea???)

There will be no high school productions of Book of Mormon. Lol. It was written by the guys who created South Park and it is offensive, crass, and drops the 'f' bomb more than any musical I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot of them). It was really really good though. Also I completely agree with you about Lea Michele. I watched the first few episodes of Glee because she was in it and she killed it in Spring Awakening. It is so sad to hear what they've done to her voice.

This. I've started to collect some on DVD though. This week my husband and I have watched Little Shop of Horrors and Chicago on DVD and I find that I can't stop singing now lol.
