If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

I'm a big Jonathan Coulton fan and so, naturally, I've bought his version.

I already own that track and I *still* bought it, just to help push it up the iTunes chart.

When people ask me why I don't like Glee, I point to shit like this (after there usual shitty music and not being nearly as revolutionary as they think they are).  What gets me the most is that the producers said "You should just be thankful we are giving you exposure" without actually crediting him.

I also remember a few years back when Kings of Leon refused to allow Glee anywhere near their music and Ryan Murphy accused them of homophobia and wanting music programs taken out of public schools.

I know that there's been more discussion about other arrangements that have been lifted by the Glee producers in the past, I'm hoping it'll help other artists get the publicity they deserve, too.

Yep. All of this plus + slut-shaming, misogyny, and "it's ok to be queer but only if you're a WHITE CIS DUDE".

Enjoyed the first season, second season they started getting heavily into the slut-shaming and misogyny with no real growth for any of the characters like they'd had in the first season, and I stopped watching it and started reading feminist critiques of it (which is where I heard about the issues regarding queer portrayal).

Also, I have a special hatred for it because it's in the group of things that a certain amount of theatre kids believe you must enjoy in order to be a "Real Theatre Person" (right beside Rent and RHPS, both of which I also dislike immensely). It's awesome feeling like you never fit in with your crew of theatre folks because there are a few things you dislike and they're CONSTANTLY breaking into song from it or talking about how AWESOME it is and if you voice a dissenting opinion it's all SHUN THE UNBELIEVER. Yah. Really great. I love it.

So. Really glad I'm not doing that anymore.

Anyway. I'm rambling. I'm going to stop now.
Pray drunk. Hex sober.

Could you elaborate on the slut-shaming and misogyny? I don't remember noticing that, but it's possible I could have missed it or forgot about it.

Last season they introduced the character of Unique, a black male with a fabulous female alter ego, although I'm not sure if they have clarified whether (s)he is transgendered or a gay transvestite, yet. Also, there is Santana, a Hispanic lesbian character, and she's been around since the beginning.

Glee can be a really silly show, but I think they have become more self-aware of how stupid it seems sometimes. I loved the storyline of Kurt and Karofsky, especially the episode when Karofsky is outed and attempts suicide. Sure, a lot of shows have dealt with these kinds of issues, but usually not ones that are so mainstream with a younger viewership. I think Glee has done a lot to promote the acceptance of the LGBTQ community among young people.
