Greek Hymn Song
« on: August 03, 2012, 11:05:41 pm »
Hey guys, I'm a guitarist for a folk band around where I live and I've started doing some different stuff with my time now-a-days and I was wondering if I could get some feedback on a song. I'm not a singer (although I chose to sing in this song), so please any assistance would be lovely!

Nice fingerwork. That it's a bit snappy, gives it character. Pretty good production, too, and for a non-singer I think you carry your own tune all right. As a matter of personal preference, though, it's... well, it's easy listening, and something like death is not (to me) easy? It's all very chill and unobtrusive... not something I would hum around the house, put on to play while I'm working, or sit down just to listen to, though I can imagine it as part of a backing track for some television episode or movie.

You're not the first person to say that, lol! I'm planning on doing more up-beat hymns. Probably the Hymn to Apollo.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. :]

I like your voice here; there's a good rasp to it that suits the piece, imo. I think perhaps there needs to be more variation in the overall dynamic; maybe a sharper bridge emphasis? to emphasis various sections of the hymn?

I agree, should have more dynamic so it's not too flat. Going to re-write the hymn in a sheet-music fashion. Thanks! :D
