It's funny because Han and Leia named him Anakin to show, um, something about overcoming darkness and evil, and then [spoiler alert].

Only problem is, I'm not sure how the fanbase would accept recasts for the main three, especially since all three actors are still alive. (Star Trek seemed to take the 2009 reboot movie pretty well, but that's a horse of a different color.) It would be cool if they bumped the story up a few decades and we got to see what the galaxy was like 30-40 years after the original trilogy, with the original trio of actors popping up for small cameos.

Speaking as both a Trekkie, and as a Star Wars fan, I have to say I was leery of the reboot, but was very pleasantly surprised. So I will do my best to reserve judgement at this point.

I do like the "30-40 years later" idea!

And my first thought was close to Mel's: there goes the neighborhood.

I know how to fix Episodes II-III. Lucas approached it all wrong. See, there was no real emotional impact of Anakin's "betrayal" because... well, he was a whiny butt and didn't seem to like Obi-Wan at all. You know what needed to have happened?

Buddy cop movie. Possibly for all three movies in the trilogy. Really build up their relationship of being Best Bros for Life. Have Anakin struggle with having power and being unable to beat up bad guys (or whatever) because Jedi are supposed to use their power 1) beneficially and then 2) mostly for balance and keeping their nose out of other people's business. (Theoretically. It never really works.) That really sucks when you'd rather be an anti-hero vigilante. Have Obi-Wan struggle with being forced into a role he reaaaaally isn't freakin' ready for and struggling with essentially raising Anakin and mourning the death of Qui-Gon. Make them look like, y'know, friends.

Allow Anakin's actor to act. Cause right now it looks like Edward and Bella have more emotions than that guy.

There, I fixed it.

See, I'd love to see movies that head further back in time. Let's see some fuckin' OR films... and judging by the way those games were received, would not be too much to ask for by a long shot.

They just can't screw them up. :whis:

I think the Clone Wars cartoon covered a tiny bit of this and I LOVED that cartoon. I actually liked it a lot more than all three of the prequels combined and their Anakin was much more likable as a character. It was sad watching him and knowing what he would become.

Let's see some fuckin' OR films...

^^This x3.  I got an XBOX just to play Knights of the Old Republic, and it's still one of the best games ever, and an incredible story.  There's even a great Holy Shit! moment about 2/3 of the way through that turns the whole story on its ear.

I never say "This."

But this.

KOTOR and its era are the richest parts of the extended universe as far as I'm concerned. MOAR DARK JEDI.

I've heard amazing things about KOTOR but I've never played it for myself. Is it really as awesome as everyone says?

YESYESYESYESYES.

A used copy of the game won't cost you much, and it'll play on the 360.
There is also a PC version available.

Warning: if you get the game, be prepared to sacrifice a huge portion your life to the game.  There are enough variations in it that you'll want to play it through several times.  Not like that's a bad thing; it isn't.  :)

Downside: I may be losing access to the only gaming system in my house besides my Mac laptop (ahahahahaha) and I has no monies. I desperately want to become a gamer. ;_;

I'm not sure if I'd want a KOTOR film? (Because let's face it a movie would not do the game justice ever.) But something from that era would totally rock. And they could basically get away with doing anything because yay EU.

Completely agreed.  Step away from the main Skwywalker canon and you have a whole galaxy worth of creative freedom.
You're right about KOTOR too.  It doesn't need to be a movie; it stands on its own merit as a piece of immersive storytelling.  That said, an OR movie with some cameos from EU characters would be fun.

Original XBOX is very cheap now and I could probably get you a deal on one.

Seriously - playing KOTOR is worth buying a system.

KOTOR II...good, but too short and I hate the ending.  Stupid Obsidian.
