If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Anyone Watching An American Horror Story
« on: October 11, 2011, 11:07:40 am »
I watched the pilot and found it to be very interesting and very weird, but in a good way. I was wondering if anyone else was watching this show and what you're thought were on the first episode.

YES.

I was entranced and confused the entire time but that was awesome. It kind of reminds me of a mix between American Gothic and True Blood. No, I don't know why.

Yeah I was pretty confused the whole time to. I think most of the people in the house, other than the family are ghosts.

That's what the Hubby said, too! I think the girl with Down's Syndrome is alive.

I think she may be a ghost to, because at the beginning of the show she was out front and that was in 1973 and she only looks like shes a teen now, but she should be more like 40, so that confused me to.

Yes, I'm watching it too and agree. It is a strange mixture, but so far I like it...I think. It is one of those confussing shows.

I just watched the pilot on on demand, I missed it when it aired. I liked it! A lot! Very creepy and strange. Personally, I think everyone is dead except the family and the burned man (maybe, he could be dead too).

Is tonight episode two, or did I miss one in between? On demand only has the pilot up.

2nd episode is tonight, I'm pretty sure.

Thanks!

I noticed that too. She's not as old as she should be. Maybe the girl from 1973 was one of Constance's other children?

I also think Tate is Constance's son.

As for who is dead vs. alive, I'm not sure. Moira, definitely dead. Tate, I don't know. Why would he need therapy if he's dead? He did seem to mysteriously disappeer in the upstairs bathroom, though. That's another thing, how do all these people keep getting into the house if they really are alive?

Why did Constance bake those cupcakes for Violet?

The Hubby thinks that Tate is a demon or a guardian spirit for the house. He also believes that Tate became that evil-thing in the basement that attacked the little girl who hated smokers. Then, after last night's episode, he revised this to "a demon who is Constance's son." It would explain her comments about losing children for another reason.

Still, Tate seems awful young to have a mother that old...

I don't think Moira is dead because both she and Constance have a history together. I was thinking that Constance was, maybe, one of those 1968 sluts that were shown last night. But, then again, wouldn't Moira have also been there in 1968? They seemed friend-enemies, to me.

Well, she is still apparently sexually active. And Tate is how old? Maybe she had him in her 40s?

I think they knew each other before Moira died. Constance said to her, "don't make me kill you again". Being a ghost would explain how she looks different to different people.

There were a couple bits of foreshadowing in last night's episode that make me wonder if there are other clues as to what might be going on or allude to future episodes.
1. Patient/murder copycat girl said she was having dreams of being cut in half by an elevator. She was later nearly cut in half by Tate and his axe.
2. Maria underlined 'sever pain' when studying about sciatic nerves for her anatomy test at the beginning of the episode. Then she was stabbed in the back in that same place.

I'm considering re-watching both episodes to see if I pick up on anything. Maybe the writers are smarter than I originally thought.

I'm pretty much of the mind that this show will be like Lost: no answers until it ends.
