To be fair, that's what the historical Druids did on occasion.

I'm well aware of that. But that's not something that I ever plan on doing. The sacrifices I make to my God/desses don't involve living beings. I kind of prefer my freedom to being in prison for murder.

That would be why I haven't done anything to my very annoying co-worker. My mother has said she'll refuse to bail me out of jail. :whis:

 I realize there may actually be Satanic Witches out there, but it seems to me that acquaintance was doing that (announcing her Witchy status) for the shock value. Sort of like a child who goes out of hir way to paint hir room black and wear Goth clothing to upset the parental units.

So she could also have been sarcastic when she said that she 'never harmed anyone' just out of annoyance of the teacher's judgmental question.  Either way there is no reason to announce something like that to everyone especially if the topic was never boght up. Not only that but true or not she is bragging just to either annoy someone or just be shocking.

Don't forget: most of them are part-time cannibals! That whole communion thing--body & blood of Christ....thanks, but no thanks! :p

(Yes, I was raised Catholic.)

In my opinion I like to think of the blood and body thing as a symbolic ritual and that is actually wine and bread or I hope so. Yeah, I see how that sounds creepy.

Yeah, I was raised as a Christian too.

The Craziest Thing Someone's Said About Your Tradition?

From a protestant friend, I've heard that witches have stone -hard hearts (as they don't accept Jesus as their saviour). My reply was: Maybe, but we have much more fun.
Fom my mom, I've heard that I can't be pagan as I was christened as a baby. I just asked: what does one thing has to do with another?

Cheers!

I got this from my mother as well. I was just confused, because I didn't get why it mattered. Lol. Like... thanks for putting me through a ritual so I would have spiritual protection (which I have no issue with)? Although it was a bit odd since I was 4 by the time I was baptized, if she was really that worried about my soul.

I can give you an exact quote.  Sorry, it's kinda long...

"I don't plan on ever seeking out other gods, because I view them all as frauds and liars. God created all of the otherworldly beings before, or at the same time that this world was created. But some of these beings decided to become rebellious and were cast out of heaven. Some of those beings decided to make themselves into 'gods' and have humans worship them. Satan, the Devil, or Lucifer, is their leader, and is also the one who started the rebellion. So in a way, all of the deity's that humans have ever worshipped do exist. But they're not nearly as powerful as we make them out to be, and they don't deserve to be worshipped or to have followers. I am not sure about this, but it is very likely that for certain 'gods', there are multiple demons taking up those identities. For example, the anubis that is appearing to you in your dreams may not be the only one. There could be two, five, or even a dozen demons that call themselves anubis. (At least in front of humans) I don't know what that demon is telling you, but he can't be up to any good. He's trying to keep you away from the truth that you'll find in Jesus Christ and getting you to follow a false religion. Ask him if he believes that Jesus is the Son of the One True God, and I'm sure he'll say no. But he's a liar because he knows it, and he'll just tell you that because wants to see you in hell. That's where he's going, and he can't do anything about it, so his goal is to lead as many humans there as he can. If he appears to you again, don't let him trick you. And if he doesn't know already, tell him about everything that I said. I'm sure he'll be angry at me for exposing him, but he'll probably try to hide that from you. AND ANUBIS, IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, I COMMAND YOU TO STAY AWAY FROM VELVELA."

...*HEADDESK*...*OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN*

Wait is this the exact quote of what someone else said to you?  If so and you remember this exactly then I'm impressed...

My fellow Pagan friend and I just looked at each other and walked away. The last thing we wanted was to be lynched in the library. Ah, well. Joys of growing up in the Bible Belt!

Also, my friend told me last night, "I heard pagans sacrifice animals." It makes me lose a little faith in this world.

Some do.  Your particular group may not, which may make it an unreasonable thing for your friend (who presumably knows something about what you do) to say, but some do.  It's a long and well-established tradition within, for example, Santeria.

What's the craziest thing someone's said about your path?

For Paganism in general...I'd say anything that can be found in a Chick tract. :) (My personal favourite is "Dark Dungeons").

For Vanatru, I've heard: "People say they're Vanatru just to get dates." (I've also heard the same thing said about Wiccans, in particular). IMHO, if you've joined a religion, any religion, to get dates, ur doin' it wrong.

I am known to be more quiet than not. Peacekeeping and pacifying. This is the spinal influence of my path. I have rarely ever warrishly retaliated, as through the in and out of time I have gained different and forever changing degrees of understanding. *Just the basics*

Anyways, I have on few occasions found that I possess a pretty intense rebellious vein that runs right along the side of my peacekeeping, pacifist bent spine that can manipulate and contort my entire pathological alignment in such a way that... I.... am not so focused on pacifying anyone more than my own beastliness.

One time, during an unsuccessful attempt at attaining and containing my own alignment in one the common of the time three day and night reckless disregard episodes of another, I had had ENOUGH. I was up to no more... I needed space, I needed to breathe air that was not being spit into my face, already, so.... I went and locked myself in the bedroom. Not a big deal? Um, well, interestingly enough, the cops were called and when they showed they, at the request of those present, took me in for a medical evaluation. Still to this day, those few individuals boast that I had a nervous breakdown.

I suppose that may be more sad than *crazy* but it genuinely seems that the provocation of others, if for naught and without adaquate result, will turn upon their own heads and be within their own works. It is not something that the faint of heart could likely understand, nor could a short sighted, midium minded thinker see enough to understand, perhaps.
