That would be the TC member whose post you'd been responding to.  You said "nothing that your going through" to her.  While you may have meant that as a generic "you", it's not the usual construction of a generic-you sentence, so people took it as a reference to what Catherine might be going through.

i don't understand how you can think that if you watch/read even a small amount of news per day. A gay man walking his poodle was recently beaten less than half an hour from where i live; if bystanders hadn't been able to intervene, he probably would have been killed. Innocent people of color are shot by cops who think they pose some kind of imaginary danger on a regular basis. That you can blithely ignore it says that you have enough privilege that you don't think it will happen to you; that doesn't mean you can speak for all minorities.

True, and I don't know what lesbians and others go through. But what I do know is that minorities in other countries that are Muslim go through heck by those that think their better than everyone else.

Minorities in most parts of the world "go through heck," though which minorities face what dangers varies depending on the culture. My point wasn't that what happened to her wasn't terrible; obviously it was. What people are reacting to is your blanket statement that nobody else is in danger of being killed for who they are in any other part of the world, and we should all just "stop complaining".

Also, and I bet you didn't know this, but this discrimination is happening to recons. In Greece they are arrested and jailed because their not Christian. So it's happening weather we like to admit it or not.

Now I don't know if this is the right spot for it, I'm sort of confused about where to put this. But apparently this girl who lived in Syria was pagan. Her brother outed her after he had become radicalized. The whole article is in the link below but this is also happening in Egypt, where Kemetics have to pretend to be good Muslims out in the open while they worship the Kemetic gods in private.

Blacks, Hispanics, the LGBT community, people that identify as anything other than "good ol' Christian folk", etc. are subject, at best, to being looked at with suspicion. Pick up a newspaper or watch even 1 hour of news on your TV or laptop and it's abudantly clear that prejudice, discrimination, and fear are as alive and well here as they are everywhere else in the world. Sad but very, very true.

I heard about that as well as other places. My mother has been telling me things that have been going on in Egypt. I've been reading about people trying to settle in areas that have important archeology importance. I hope that made some sense.

You must live in the hard core parts of the bible belt. I spent one to three hours reading news here in Louisville and it's all about basketball and other things. I have to do the across the country to get other news.
