Can we change it? Or should we simply watch the violence?

We can't change the world or who people are, but we can change one persons point of view even if it's just by being us and letting them see that that black/gay/female/transgender/wiccan/christian/tattooed guy with shaved head etc isn't the monster that they had in their mind.

Not the same but a useful example - I used to get so frustrated with cold callers until I learnt that someone I knew was a telemarketer and I could understand that the person at the other end of the phone when I'm desperate to dash out is just like me and having to slog through a hard job where people will vent and swear at times and they still have to be polite.

Make one person at a time realise that the mass evil horde in their head is made up of ordinary people just like them. It's not an instant fix but it's a proper fix.
Basically, do the small version of what Kylara pointed out is happening already.

Ps. You realise that even being part of this group does that. There are countless faiths and beliefs here and I'm sure a poll would produce a spectrum of race/gender/opinions etc.
I live in a reasonably standard white, straight, christian community and frankly was a little surprised coming on here and meeting people who are god spouce or transgender or a whole load of other titles which I'd only heard at a distance until then. I'll be honest and say there were a few times I thought someone was putting me on or was crazy. And then I got to know them and realised that those titles are just that - that they are, to me, simply other people who have their own views and paths but are just as valuable as I am and just as worthy of respect/understanding/friendship as I or anyone else.
