"Star of Brighid." It's your name, so there's nothing inappropriate or high-expecting about it. It's just fact.

Ooo!  I like this!

I'm not particularly happy with my blog's name, but it is descriptive.

You all are very sweet.  And very persuasive.

I'm working up the courage.  As I mentioned in the 2013 thread, I'm trying to come up with an appropriate name for a blog that doesn't set unrealistically high expectations.

Oh, I hope you do! If you need help setting it up/hosting, just let me know, I'd be happy to do either.

More intelligent blogs is always better! You should definitely join in.

On wordpress.com, btw, you can pick a name to start with and change it latter if you think something else suits you better.

OK, it sounds like there are a lot of Wordpress fans here.  Why is Wordpress better than Blogspot?

More user friendly to noobs, in my experience - the layout just seemed more intuitive. Even using the free option, it seemed a lot easier to create a professional looking blog than blogspot, which will always have a vageuly livejournal-esque quality to it I just can't see past.

I shall endure.

Thanks, Juni!  I might take you up on that.  I'm playing around with Wordpress right now, trying to figure it out, in case I can think of a good name for a blog.  ;)

In fairness, I haven't used Blogspot except as a commenter since about 2006. But Wordpress is pretty much drag-and-drop to set up, has really easy-to-use stats, a big selection of layouts to pick from, and there's no risk of screwing up your blog if you ever decide to, say, private all your images in Picasa or mess with your Google+ settings.

I find Wordpress to be the easiest to use in terms of usability. But what really sells it for me is that Wordpress is independent, in that I don't need to have an e-mail with X provider, or have it automatically linked to another identity. I can start up a completely independent blog at will, provided I use an e-mail address I've never used before (from any type of provider: Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo!... doesn't matter).

I really like that for some reason.

What they said.  Plus Wordpress lets you specify privacy settings for individual posts.  All you could do on Blogspot was make a entire blog private.

(I did like the design features on Blogspot better than the free version of Wordpress.)

I tried Blogger for a while and found it unwieldy.
The WP dashboard has a much better design and is neatly arranged.

As a newbie on WP, I have to agree. Made of awesome, it is.

And at the platform consideration stage, the persuasion has all but worked. :D:
