Any other vegans here?

I have been a vegetarian about 3.5 years, a vegan about 2 of those years.  If you are also a vegetarian or vegan, did you do it for spiritual reasons?  How long have you been on this diet?

I transitioned to avoid supporting factory farming for ethical reasons but my ethics are also part of my spirituality.

This is pretty much my position.  I'm a "mostly vegetarian".  I raise and slaughter all the meat I eat myself, which isn't much (just a few chickens, and their eggs, and rabbits a year).  Knowing and caring for the critters I consume is part of my spirituality, for sure.

I've been pretty much vegetarian now for nearly 40 years. I hate the way meat is produced so I refuse to support it by buying it. In theory I should have no problem with consuming ethically raised meat but in practice there are plenty of alternatives available to me.

Nothing to do with my spirituality though - just my own moral compass.  As humans are actually adapted to be meat eaters, I should be a meat eater.
