Do you guys think rocks have souls? I've really never considered the fact, but I work with them a lot, and I wear them around. I've kind of always had a thing for them. Today I was clearing and recharging them, and my rainbow obsidian wouldn't charge up. I usually say specifically what I want to use the rock for, kind of like a chant, and usually when they are "charged" to me they feel like they get heavier, and I can feel the movement of energy around them. Wasn't happening with the obsidian. So I just started using different words. Well, when I got to the words "absorb" and "shield", then I got a reaction. It was like a burst of energy from nowhere. So that's what I went with. I've never had a rock or crystal decide it didn't want to do a task I asked it to do, but I think that's just what happened here. It was weird... but anyway when I went through the others I was using, I decided to ask the rocks first to see if they wanted to do what I was asking. Thought I should be polite.

I don't necessarily think that stones have souls, but I can sense that they have their own energies about them. What you're describing sounds a lot like this one kind of belief that there are spirits in everything, like plants, animals, stones, etc. That could be it, but since it's not a part of my own path, I can't be too sure about that.

I don't use crystals but I do use rocks - and yes I do ask for "volunteers" if I'm going to use one. Generally I have more willing to take part than I actually need.
