That wont get me self confidence.
Just more labels. In my experiance anyhow.

I am working on my beliefs list. that helps.

Working to actually do something about your mental state doesn't give you confidence?

Good!

Cognitive behavioural therapy is a specific type of therapy, wherein they help you learn to avoid harmful thought patterns. It may not work for everyone, no, but my point is that people aren't just telling you to talk to a counsellor/therapist.

I had those and they only gave me labels and experimental medication........
I would rather solve my problems by getting more energy, and thusly more self confidence.

Cognitive behavioural therapy has nothing to do with medication. In fact, the kind of therapists who do it generally are not licensed to provide anyone with medication (you need to be a doctor for that).

No one is forcing you to go, but please do realize that there is more than one kind of therapist and therapy.

Although getting more energy is, in a way, a way of bettering yourself, it is skipping over the real issue. It is rather akin to having depression, but going to a gym rather than talking to a doctor or therapist to find a cause or cure to the illness.*

*Going to the gym is often a great idea for depressed people, but not as sole treatment for the illness.

What I'm trying to say is, research ways to help with your thought patterns, including therapy (remember, not all therapists are alike, as humans or in what kind of therapy they give). You can also work on gaining energy, but that won't solve your thought problems, even if it makes you feel a bit better.

I'm not saying there is a cure, especially since I don't know what your ailment is, or if it even is an ailment or just a thought process. However, you are very unlikely to get better if you don't even explore options that may help you (not 'cure' or 'fix' you, but help you).

The gym part was just a comparison, I was not suggesting you should go there.

Hi Thrak,

There are a number of us dealing with chronic conditions of one kind or another who are also living with the fact that, even with treatment, there's no cure for what ails us.  This does not mean there is no help out there, and it does not mean that looking for and then using that help is pointless.

I'm sorry you've had such bad experiences in the past.  If you are ever ready to reach out for support, I hope you can find what you need.

You know, I am always happy when I see this thread has updated because you just consistently throw out the most bananas statements, Thrak. You can go to the gym without liking 'sports culture.' I go to the gym. I am about as far removed from sports culture as is humanly possible.

But more importantly... nobody told you to go to the gym! You jumped to that idea like a frog on crack. It is no wonder people have such a hard time having a conversation with you. I think you need to consider that sometimes people use comparisons to make a point, and also that not every suggestion we make is an order.
