If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

What gemstones are you drawn to?
« on: March 29, 2013, 01:00:28 am »
Other than being OMG SHINY, or just beautiful in general, are there any gemstones/crystals that you've been drawn to for no real reason other than you just felt it?

I just had to buy an unakite palmstone today even though I normally prefer stones that come in raw crystal form or some kind of point at least. It's not even a colour I like. And I love it, won't even let it leave my side for a minute right now. Just wondering if anybody had any similar stories or experiences.

If not, what's your favourite gemstone/crystal you find totally underrated?

Can Baltic amber count? :-p Seriously, though, I love any stones or crystals that are reminiscent of the sun.

Bloodstone. It is so underrated and underused, but it is brilliant for all sorts of things. Seriously, I have loads of it! I never take my Bloodstone pendant off (it's been nearly 20 years now).....

Clear quartz, always. I must have at least five different quartz crystals at the moment.

I just realized I didn't respond to the initial question.

Not for me, no, but I'm often drawn to buy things that turn out to be for other people.

I do this too! The other week I bought a rhodonite pendant that I now realize is for my friend... The only thing is it was $12.00

Fire Agate! I have a small tumblestone of it and I have a pendant of a piece of it now. I love it's fiery associations :)

Fire agate is one of my favorites, too!  And for the same reason.  ;)

But I hate how it is so often misrepresented.  There are so many listings (like on Etsy and Ebay) of "fire agate" jewelry or beads that aren't actually fire agate.  They're usually a kind of agate that has been treated with a sort of crackly finish (sometimes called "crab agate").  Nowhere near as beautiful as true fire agate.

I was also happy to see someone else mention imperial topaz.  I have a weakness for that, especially in its natural crystal form, although it's also beautiful faceted.

Another favorite that I think is often overlooked is fire obsidian.  It's not very common, but it's worth looking for.  Gorgeous!

And a couple that are NOT particularly unusual, but I really love them, are opal, blue moonstone, and amber. And smokey quartz -- but that's more for how it feels than how it looks.

Rocks are really cool!

Aye, I'm always very careful when I look for it :)

I love flourite, especially in a local form called Blue John stone. It's very hard to find, as it was only mined in one quarry that's now closed. I've got a decent-sized raw piece that I found second hand. It was quite a find!

Amethyst, rose quartz, and carnelian are my favourites. They have "energies" that I find helpful, such as amethyst improves meditation and dreams, rose quartz is emotionally comforting, and carnelian gives energy and focus.

Bloodstone and Amethyst. THe first stone I ever bought was a bloodstone. I bought it from a friend. It was in a large ziplock bag with a bunch of other bloodstones, I saw i and dug it out. I had to have it, It great energy to me but when my sister held it she dropped it and said it shocked her...It now has changed color since I bought it 2 years ago but the energy feels the ame to me.
