Using blue lotus to enhance spirit perception
« on: September 04, 2015, 09:24:01 pm »
I searched the whole forum before creating this thread to ask this question. I'd like to know if any forum members have had experience using extract of blue lotus (the sacred blue lily of the Nile) to open their third eye? It's 100% legal in the United States and apparently has the effects of weed without the paranoia and other side effects, but milder.

I'm not currently on any prescribed medications and did a lot of research before buying from a well-reviewed Amazon seller (http://www.amazon.com/Sacred-Lotus-Flower-Extract-Powder/dp/B00ATVKVCC), but now I'm not sure what the best and most effective way to consume it. The packet is tiny and it cost me $10 so I want to use this effectively.

I've promised my gods that I will not touch meat or alcohol until some of my boons are granted, so mixing the blue lotus powder in alcohol isn't an option for me. I was thinking of mixing a spoonful in hot water.

Any insight into what to expect and how best to use blue lotus would be very appreciated. Thank you guys!

I would recommend waiting until you can do it proper with alcohol, such as a favored wine, and to keep in mind that any venture into psychedelics is best done with excellent set and setting. You want to be and feel completely relaxed, completely safe, completely open to embrace. Not worrying about whether or not it's even working, or tense-alert trying to tell if it's working or not, second-guessing methods or trying to somehow control how intense it will be. But rather again, totally safe, relaxed and open, for whatever may come, having done things proper.

In my opinion it would be worth the wait, to make sure everything is perfect, even if that means waiting a while. Even if something is "mild", that is only one part of the overall equation. Just my two scents.

Thanks for this advice! I think that if you see the synergy between blue lotus and alcohol being helpful as much as that, then I don't mind waiting at all. It might only be a few more months anyway before I know if my boons will be granted or not. Since the blue lotus extract I have is small and pricey I'd rather wait patiently and get the best effect out of it as possible.

Would you be interested in sharing any experiences you've had while consuming blue lotus? Only if you are comfortable. I am curious about what I can expect.

I don't have personal experience with blue lotus, but if you would like to read very in-depth information or get really in-depth answers, I recommend checking out shroomery.org. I haven't been on there in some years, but I remember it being a really friendly and helpful psychedelics discussion community, hopefully it has remained so. You can also search the forums without joining, and there are 87 pages of threads dedicated to blue lotus specifically. There is also a lot of great material on navigating safely and getting the most out of psychedelics in general, possibly a lot of interesting stuff for you to digest while waiting for the right time.

In my personal opinion, expectations can be more harmful than helpful, because they can both interfere with the natural experience meant for you, and also if it turns out to not be as mild as you expected (which happens often enough), it can cause anxiety, which can turn the whole thing into a major growing experience, but still sucks, heh. However I also totally get wanting to know that many others have gone before you and it turned out alright, so for that I definitely recommend browsing those threads.

On a practical level: different parts of the plant will extract in water versus alcohol.

(I have enough idosyncratic reactions to medications and substances I have no interest in exploring things beyond a certain point and without good reason - I do even medicinal herbalisms very carefully -  but if you're going to do this kind of thing, understanding the basics of different kinds of preparations is going to be very helpful to you.)

I want to second TinyToad's suggestions regarding psychedelics, and also to point you toward erowid.org as another place where you can read about people's personal experiences with the drug.
