Runic Protection Inscriptions?

I have been working on a protection inscription for a friend. I have planed on using a double circle with a triangle inside with bind runes between the circles, I am using the Elder Futhark, specifically Thurisaz, Wunjo, and Jera as the primary runes with Algiz. The runes are all protection and stability based but there placement within the circles is giving me some trouble. I was thinking spreading them equidistantly around the inside. My main concern is the wood that I should use, I am conflicted between Ash or Yew. I could use some opinions or suggestions.
