I just think that is how nature works, the way it makes me feel, that's all.
But point taken.  :)

Very well, or a difference in tradition/craft perhaps?

Certainly there is that too at times :)

Bright Blessings,

I have a friend who has a problem, and I want to give some good advice, but I have no idea how to solve his problem:

He is a beginning Witch, he has tried a few things, but he can not get focused enough to choose a path.

Its always a 'maybe this maybe that'', and so he can not learn it on his own, but since he is a guy and most covens in our area are dominated by women he does not feel comfortable in those groups.

Take in mind he is very insecure, intimidated by spiritually powerful women thanks to some very bad experiences.

He is also power hungry, and obsessed with protection charms, spells, rituals etc.

And he still thinks magick is all about power.

Though he is also kind, friendly, giving, and rather androgynous.

How would Callum, lets call him that, solve this problem so he can find his path?

Thanks in advance.

Insecure, eh? That won't do. I think, he should stop magic for some time and go see a therapist to fight his insecurities.

He has a therapist, but why stop doing magic for some time?

I think, because of him being insecure. Insecurity is a bad companion to have. It's good he has a therapist, the therapist can help him.

I would use magic to stop feeling insecure, but thats my logic.

And I can be wrong, I am not a High Cleric.  ;D

But our emotions tend to affect our actions subconciously and in something as mind and will focused as magic that would most likely be stronger.

So, the result would just be more powerful magic?

The most easy emotion to show with is fear - it's similar to insecurity but more obvious and fully formed. If someone's afraid they find it hard to think straight, see enemies in every shadow, mistake the intent of other peoples words or causes people to freeze up.

Or lash out, sounds a bit too Jedi-ish but ok.  ;D

I suspect what's being implied here (and this may be just my inference) is that it isn't quite so black & white as your surmise here of, simply, "more powerful".  I think, instead, some of us see the potential for the unchecked emotions to have unintended & undesirable effects on the magic, such as causing it to go wrong.  Just something to think about.

This is quite a useful podcast on this topic from The Mental Health Foundation here (not necessarily aimed at your friend, OP, as he'd need to check with his therapist first, but for others reading this thread): https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/podcasts-and-videos/how-overcome-fear-and-anxiety

Ah, I see, well, I do not want to brag but neither Callum nor myself have ever experienced unintended & undesirable effects.
But it's better to prevent so thanks.  :)

Exactly that. Thank you Perdita
