Could this be something or am I over thinking?

I was cleaning a cabinet last night in my kitchen that I rarely use. It normally just has this bowl in it that is my mothers. This time though I found a white cloth folded in half and then in half again. One corner is folded about a 1/4 of the way over with a button sewn on it. The button is from a coat of mine. The cloth is semi stiff from something that stained it a light yellowish/brownish colour. My sister is convinced that someone is trying/did place a spell/curse/something on me.  Are we just over thinking this? Any help would be appreciated.

The thing to look at is as follows - is anything untoward happening now; loss of job without warning, bad grades in school when you're normally a B or better student, sudden break up with GF/BF for no reason.

Things like that would indicate something malevolent directed towards you; but again might not be a curse, just some bad luck.

Personally, I don't see any significance in that particular item, nothing in it screams "magic" to me.

Others might have a different take on it, however.

Nothing in your description screams magic to me, however.
