Well, hello...
« on: May 26, 2017, 10:03:45 am »
I'm not really sure where to begin.  I've tended for much of the past 15 years to hover between eclectic paganism and agnosticism, coming from a childhood background of getting caught between extreme fundamentalist Christian family members on one side and a father who tried to rebel with an equally extreme version of atheism that pretty much just turned him into a funhouse mirror of his very disturbed mother.

Over the past two or three years, I had felt like my focus was narrowing in towards one primary pantheon, but now (unless, I'm, you know, just nuts), I am being told by one of my major deities, effectively "Yes, you're one of mine pretty much, but I actually don't want you to dedicate and in fact need you to take some time off and follow this other deity of a completely unrelated pantheon for awhile".  Which seems a bit weird even for UPG, but okay, this stuff can be a little  weird.  On top of that, I've just acquired, in what sure feels like a spiritually significant kind of way, a wand---which doesn't particularly relate to either path, and is the traditional Wiccan ritual tool I've always felt least affinity for of all of them---never been quite sure what the heck to do with one, and especially always had trouble resonating with wooden objects, though I have recently taken up woodworking as a hobby and felt really good about it, so maybe this relates to that.

Anyway, if anyone has suggestions for me ( I'm being non-specific until advised which sub-forum(s) I ought best to post in for this kind of stuff or if it's welcome, not trying to hide anything really)

Hi and welcome!

I'd definitely suggest posting in one of the other forums (a lot of people don't read the intro folder, or do so only occasionally when they have more time, plus, of course, it's great to have specific topic discussions in folders where you can also browse for other similar things.)

In general around here, it's fine to pick whatever forum makes sense to you - if it's really in the wrong place, one of the staff will move it. The big differences are that a couple of forums have some specific beginner-focused rules, so if you want those, pick the appropriate ones (Paganism for Beginners, Magic and the Occult for Beginners, or the Books and Other Resources, though the last is less relevant for your current questions.)

Otherwise, I'd suggest the Gods and Goddesses one for your question about deity interactions, and whichever of the magic-focused forum seems like the best fit for where you want to go with your question about the wand.
