It's been a very long time
« on: March 26, 2016, 09:51:58 pm »
Hello, Everyone. I go by Runt and used to be a member back in the early 2000s. I was so happy to see the Cauldron is still in existence and going strong.

I was deeply saddened to see that dearest Elspeth has passed, and wonder if the April 1st candle burning is still occurring to honor her memory.

I was a fallen away Catholic when I first joined way back when; then I guess somewhere around 2009 I became a fallen away Pagan.  Actually, life in general just consumed so much time, I set my feelings and beliefs on a shelf. Now, after many life changing events throughout 2015 (I thought that year would never end), I find myself with the time and desire to become reacquainted with the site, people and practices that brought so much comfort before.

Looking forward to hours upon hours of catching up on the forum posts and, of course, getting to know all of you (so many names I don't recognize ... Randall and LyricFox have never been forgotten).

Welcome back, Runt!

Yes, we'll be honoring Elspeth (and Chavi and Marilyn) in a few days - but thank you for mentioning it; I don't know about Randall, but I hadn't yet noticed how close it was to that time. A reminder never comes amiss!

I am very new here.

Catholicism have some good things, like centering prayer, ignatian meditation and seasonal awareness.

Paganism have some good things, like theurgy, pathworkings and seasonal awareness.

Thank you all, SunflowerP, rocquelaire, Aisling and FraterBenedict, for the greetings.

2015 brought the sudden passing of my husband of 30 years (Stage IV pancreatic cancer; he went from healthy and active to deceased in 32 days), the death of my step-mom (94 years old in poor health) four days after my husband, and my dad's passing last August (95 years old, also in frail health). So we went from a small family of 7 down to 4.

Needless to say, the rather sudden imposition of life's mundane burdens all now on my shoulders was overwhelming at first, but getting a little easier with each passing day.  So, yes, FraterBenedict, life is getting better ... slowly, but steadily.

I am so sorry for your losses, but I am glad to hear that life is re-orientating in an acceptable way for you. I hope that this slow getting better will continue in a meaningful way.

I just moved in recently, but "Welcome Home!"
My condolences for your losses - especially for your husband - the loss of a mate must be very hard. (I can't imagine living w/someone, but I can imagine losing that someone - that's odd, isn't it?)
