Hey everyone!

I’m a 25 year old female living in North Carolina, and have been researching and looking into Wicca, as I feel called towards it in a whole and fits just who I am as a person in general. I’m looking forward to using this forum for good and to expand my knowledge about Wicca.

As I’m still a baby witch, I was wondering if anyone could give me suggestions on books or literature to read to give me more insight and a better understanding of Wicca and how to properly understand spells and herbs, stones and charms that are commonly used by witches.

Welcome to the forum! Some literature I love is from the author Scott Cunningham. The book Wicca is a basic for the beginner. Living Wicca is the second book, it's the follow up. If you want to work with elements he also has so books called Earth Power and Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. I also love this one book by Amber K called True Magick which is a very good book on Wicca. You might try those at first. Blessings!

I've got a list of intro books I recommend up on my website. The book I usually suggest people start with these days is Thea Sabin's Wicca for Beginners, which gives a solid overview of current approaches to Wicca, exercises and practices to begin with, and a lot of other useful information for reading and learning from other sources.

I don't generally recommend starting with the classic books Anubisa mentions - many of them have great things in them, and they're certainly worth reading at some point. But our community has changed an awful lot since all of those books came out. Reading them won't give you a good sense of how people use terms or concepts now (which makes it a lot harder to talk to people now about what you're doing, find more information, etc.)

Some of the older sources also aren't great at things like discussing safety issues, or can be rigid or dismissive about gender or orientation, etc. (More on my site here, with some specific historical notes.)

Age of the book is also particularly relevant if you're looking at something like herbal information (or basically, anything you're planning to touch, drink, eat, inhale, or otherwise apply to your body in any way). We've learned a lot more about the biochemical actions of herbs over the past couple of decades, including that a number of modern pharmaceutical options can interact with plants (and foods) in different and not always obvious ways.

So if you're doing anything with plants, you want to make sure you're including a recent source with up to date information checked by someone with appropriate expertise. (This often means cross-referencing magical information sources with science sources.)
