Hello from a new member who moves around a lot
« on: May 16, 2012, 10:33:46 pm »
Hello from Shanghai to all the Cauldron folk! I'm a Pagan working in various Chinese-speaking places and soon getting married and moving to England. I'm excited to have found a lively Pagan forum to be a virtual home during this rather unsettled part of my life.

A little about my background: I was raised Catholic but came across Starhawk's Spiral Dance at a young age and have just waxed more and more Pagan ever since then. I discovered Druidry in college and was a member of ADF for about five years or so before concluding that the organisation simply wasn't a very good fit for me.

I consider myself to be both a Druid and a Witch. Right now I'm exploring the Witchy side of my path more. I'm interested in creating a hedge/kitchen-Witch practice. I'm studying a lot about Wicca but as I understand it that is a very particular lineage-based British tradition, so I'd call myself a non-Wiccan Witch. I'm inspired by Marion Green, Ellen Dugan, Starhawk, and T Thorn Coyle, among others. I'm planning to take a Cherry Hill summer course soon to learn more about the Feri tradition.

I also have a master's degree in Old Norse, so very familiar with the Gods and the lore from that part of the world.

My personal goals are to 1) get my nose out of my books and start doing more practical work and 2) transform myself from a slightly spoiled urbanite into a proper outdoorswoman. (It'll be a slow learning curve ;) )

That's me!

Welcome to TC!

I'm sad to say that if you move around China a lot you will hit places where TC is not available. Major pieces of China's IP address space get blocked by TC because spammers or poorly written bots overwhelm our servers.

Heh, I think I had a run-in with that yesterday when I tried to register for the first time. I got a message saying no spammers were allowed. :( I tried again this morning and it worked all right though. Happily I'm flying to Taiwan tomorrow and maybe it won't be an issue there!
