Hello!
« on: April 16, 2019, 12:38:37 am »
Hello everyone!
I am a Puerto Rican teen whom has decided to go back to the native ways and worship the Taíno (native Amerindian peoples of the Caribbean, predominantly Cuba, Puerto Rico, etc) Gods, whom the Taíno natives called Cemí/Zemí.

I take a traditional stance on viewing and worshipping the Gods, which also includes a large amount of ancestor veneration.

I have a small shrine, nothing fancy, where i perform daily prayers and offerings to my ancestors, the Gods, and the spirits of the earth.

I also perform a cleansing/starting the day on the right foot type of ritual which involves holding a vessel of water, pointing it to the direction of either North, South, East, or West, saying a prayer to the specific God of that direction whilst asking them to bless you with their specific trait, then pouring the water over yourself.

To provide insight,

God of North- Rahuno
Trait- Wisdom/Experience

God of South- Achiano
Trait- Open Mindness

God of East- Sobaiko
Trait- Illumination/Enlightenment

God of West- Koromo
Trait- Inner Vision

Speaking of the Gods, there are quite a few.

There are the major Gods that everyone knows, Ata Bey, Yucahú, Guabancex, Juracán, etc, and then there are the spirits of the earth and heavens, which include the spirits of our ancestors.

There are many websites explaining the Gods and some mythology in case you'd like to do further research on Them.

Anyway, i hope you guys enjoyed my introduction to my beliefs and background, and i hope to have a good time here.

May the Gods bless all your beautiful souls!

Thank you for sharing. I have a special sentimentality for forgotten traditions that don’t get much attention. There are many.

Did you hear about the dna study on the Taino population? It found that the indigenous population’s ancestry is still alive. Of course the Tainos have always said this, but it is interesting that it can be tested now.

Hello everyone!

Hello and welcome! Nice to meet you.
"The worshippers of the gods go to them; to the manes go the ancestor-worshippers; to the Deities who preside over the elements go their worshippers; My devotees come to Me." ... "Whichever devotee desires to adore whatever such Deity with faith, in all such votaries I make that particular faith unshakable. Endowed with that faith, a votary performs the worship of that particular deity and obtains the fruits thereof, these being granted by Me alone." - Sri Krishna
